I've emailed them about selling to Canada. I asked for a quote on the 1.5 gain flexibal material. I wana see if it's cheaper than the Wilsonart since that's stupid expensive here.

Anyone in Canada own a Hurley?

When I bought my superglo 1.5 (84" wide x 48" or so) I think I only paid a little over $200 and that was grommets. Gary and Dave are looking into buying one as well.

I just got a quote from Hurley for an 48x85 viewable-area Superglo screen. At first it was fairly pricey because he was using a shipping company. Then he realized he could send it UPS and it got a lot cheaper.

With lace&grommet (53x90" total area) it's $271.52; raw fabric for stapling/velcroing to a frame (56x93" total area) it's $216.24. That includes $40 UPS shipping from Maryland to Colorado.

That's roughly double what DW would cost here, but it's higher gain too. And I think I could re-use my existing BOC screen frame for the Hurley fabric, which means the total cost wouldn't be much higher than a DW screen.

I've tried a few places to buy Wilsonart. It would cost me over $500 for just the laminate to do a 10x8 screen. It's stupid expensive here.

I asked for a quote with a frame ( maybe like the Stewart with the snaps to fasten it to aluminium )

Let's see what they say.

That is a good price, 14.1' WOW that's big, I know Gino likes a unity gain screen for a blend do you think a 1.5 gain would be ok?

I am going matte not the super glow, My dalite is 1.3 and i can see a bit of color shifting and halo, even from the
9500LC. At first I thought it was cause of the AC PJ but now I know its the screen. Its not bad but you can tell . For example when the sony loading logo on my BH 100 pulses back and forth you see the white halo circle around it about 1 foot in diameter. I think the unity gain will work better with a blend.
I Am getting this on WTS recommendation.

Bit more than the wilsonart....

I'll have to ask about just the material.

I ordered mine with the grommets and made a frame out of aluminum electrical conduit, then attached a 3/4"x6" wood facial frame to it covered with black velvet. If memory serves correct I only paid alittle over $200US for the material which was about 86" wide(16x9).

I plan on using a tube frame as well then use turn buckles to stretch it out to the frame and cover with 1x6 as you did Walt.

Maybe we can order together and save on shipping, you could drive down to buffalo or I could drive up to you to bring it?

I bet shipping to Canada would be more. My shipping quote was 118 .

Color shifting, yes. Unity gain better with a blend, definitely yes. But halos? I've never heard of high-gain screens causing halos, especially only 1.3.

Your right last night i was looking into my lens' and the halo is on the face of the tube. i always thought it wasnt there but last night I clearly saw it (AC PJ). I have my LC apart so could not compare. I was thinking of this post also when I saw that.
