I know you'll find this hard to believe but I'm finally having a problem with my 4600HD. It's been running for so long that I wore out the bearings in one of the belly fans. Laughing

Anyway, I'm looking for replacement recommendations. It's a 120mm fan, I'll need two. I'm looking for quiet, moves alot of air and reliable. Which will last longer, sleeve or ball bearing. Thanks,

I have these, move lots of air , I actually slowed them down to make them even more quiet.

Chip,
What are the specs or model number of the original fan??
Are they NMB's??

Be careful with those fans installed, you will have less air flow than the original NMB's as you reduced the speed,
Be carefull you don't cook your HDM and FCM, not also to forget those VNB's.

My Marquee has 4x 120mm fans in the belly,
Arctic cooling model, put out 56.3cfm @ 1500RPM, total of 225.2cfm,
the original NMB's 59cfm, Total of 177cfm.

I originally had silenX fans, 4x installed, but I was not happy with the mechanical noise they made when mounted horizontally, vertical they are fine,

I Think they have been fine i did a rudimentary test before I sealed it all up. I first taped some pieces of paper on one end to each of the HDM and FCM so the
one end was covering the Holes in the top cover. I then turned on the projector and measured how far up each piece of paper was raised at the end not taped down. I then put in the new fans and did the same, and changed a resistor on the step down power supply to get the same flow, just a 1/8 inch more paper movement to make sure. has been working great so far. I also did the same at the tube ends.

Now that is an interesting way to test air flow, well done.

I use an air flow meter, which I picked up for about $80 about 6 months ago.

Now, back to playing around with my Marquee.

Bearing question...Which type of bearing is better for a belly fan (horizontal) configuration, sleeve or ball? I noticed in my old rack that had a fan on top as well as fans on the front, that the top fan (horizontal) would fail much faster than the front fans (vertical). I don't remember if they were sleeve or ball.
