My house has a contract on it and hopefully is sold. Gary Fritz is coming to town, so we thought we'd kill 2 birds with one stone. We'll have a get together for Gary and bid a farewell to my HT.

So far I think we have 4 total. Anyone that wants to come is welcome.

The date and time is May 4th, 7:30 PM. Dave is the one that put this thing together. Without him it wouldn't be happening, so I'll let him run the show. He can answer any questions you may have.

Whatever the price, I'd wreck it for less. Gimme a sledgehammer and a couple of hours.

What? Oh, not that kind of contract? Nevermind! Shocked

Sounds like a good time. Post a lot of pictures!

Geeze, Phil is selling his house with his great rear-projection setup, and Dave (person99) is selling his Onyx. What's the world coming to!?

(Wish I could justify buying the Onyx... Neutral)

The buyers came by last night to take some measurements for new carpet. They're two young guys that are cousins, and are buying the house together. They told me they're into audio and video, and the HT was a big part of why they're buying the house. They hadn't seen the HT in action, so I rented some Blu-ray movies and tweaked the convergence. It was looking good! When they arrived I had 'Ratatouille' playing, expecting them to be excited about getting to see the HT. They barely gave it a glance. What little they did look seemed to be out of politeness. They didn't seem at all interested. I sat there and watched the movie by myself while they took measurements and showed the house off to their girlfriends.

At first I was disappointed, but after thinking about it, I was elated. I don't have to worry about them liking the HT's performance. It doesn't seem they really care. Thumbs Up

Um, that what they told you. Their gay Phil.

They are not girlfriends, there is a nickname for them. Smile

And this is what I expected. That is why I kept saying I thought you should sell everything and put in cheap stuff. I wanted your speakers cheap. Sad

I would have kept the stuff if it didn't go with the house, so no cheap speakers Dave. Wink Actually, I had several friends that said the same thing as you. Wanting to trade their lessor gear for mine, or buy it for cheap. I thought and thought about it, but I couldn't see anything but downside for me. Wink

I gave all buyers the option of removing any trace the HT ever existed, at my expense. They didn't take me up on it. I think it helped sell the house. It's just wasn't one of the main reasons.

I got $251,250 for it. All things considered, I'm ecstatic!

Congrats on the sale, Phil! That's great you're happy with the outcome. The upside to getting rid of all the old gear is that you get to start with a clean slate and go shopping for whatever you want (or can afford/justify). I don't mean to imply you can get whatever you want. I certainly want a whole pile of stuff I can't afford or justify - that's for sure. Wink

Have fun at the meet - wish I was closer so I could meet you guys. You guys really should snap a few pics just for posterity's sake. Moose's passing puts things like this into perspective: Take a few pics - we never know when it's our time!

Hey, you never gave me that option! I would have traded sealing the hole for the speakers (and maybe another item or two Wink).

Congrats Phil! Your house would easily fetch in the mid $300K's up here. It's a beautiful home.

Yeah right they they didn't give a sh*t about the RP setup. They were giggling like little girls when you were out of earshot. (I thought the same thing about them being gay...especially when the first thing they do is start measuring things). Rolling Eyes

I wish I could break away and make it down there for the shindig. One of these days I'm going to be able to make a meet and put some faces with the names. That aside, I have NO idea how in the hell you all put up with the heat down thar. Laughing

Oh it sucks. It REALLY sucks. I'll tell you what I was told when I moved here--you go from your air conditioned house to your air condition car to the air conditioned store...with the goal of spending about as much time outside of the A/C as you would want to spend in space without air. Smile

Oh, so it's like here in the winter, then: Miserable. You don't want to be outside if you can at all help it. At least you guys can wear the same clothes as you move from house to car to store. We have to a whole clothing apparatus to go outside... and it's still miserable. You just haul ass from office to car, from car to house, etc. and try not to freeze your ass off - or fall on it.

Yeah, you got it rough there. I grew up part of my youth in Buffalo, when you are a kid, winters are fun and not getting heat stroke for playing outside in the summer is a bonus!

You got to pick one. But, let me tell you this, we can keep people warm in the bitter cold of space. There are only so many layers of cloths you can remove! Smile

Thanks Steve! I do kind of look forward to getting new gear. The only problem is I'll be in an apartment for a year of two. I can get new audio gear and video source gear, but I can't get a PJ until I get a house. I imagine I'll end up with a mid-grade plasma. Yuk!

PS: Actually, I have a G70 and 4 new tubes in storage. I'll be ready to go when I get back in a house!

Dave, I already had a guy lined up that was going to tear the screen and cabinets out, frame, sheetrock, tape and bed, and texture, for $200. I supply the materials and help him with the tear-out. I couldn't believe how cheap he was! Shocked

Now Gary, it's not going to be THAT kind of get together! I couldn't survive that sort of thing anymore. Mr. Green

Thanks Greg! The buyer came over today for inspection. They did seem a little more interested in the HT than last night. I answered some questions about it for them.

They measured for new carpet. I truly don't think they're gay, although you never know. No big deal either way.
