Hello all.

I finally set up my 1272 after moving in 6 months ago! (I had to make a hole in the wall to recess the machine and run signal cable through the attic since the components are on the opposite side of the room.)

While doing convergence last night, the red image on the left side of the picture is not responding to vertical convergence settings. For example, if I mess with horizontal skew, the right side skews but the left only skews a little. Almost like an asymmetrical bow effect. If I try to use Bow to correct it, again the right side does most of the moving. With Zone convergence, the points on the left side of the screen will only move down so much then stop no matter how far I adjust the setting. I can get it to converge horizontally but not vertically on the left side of the screen. What could be the problem?

My wife says it's fine, but the red blur/offset in the lower left of the image is making me nuts.

The projector is floor-mounted, front projection. I might also note that while I was testing before mounting, the red image would occasionally pop to the very top of the tube. If I smacked the side of the machine, it corrected itself.

Thanks for any help!

Well if you smacked it and it jumped back I would suspect a bad connection. Try unplugging the projector from the AC, open it up and reseat all the connector's in the boards. See if that fixes the problem.

It could be a bad solder joint too.

Have a look at this page http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony125x_Layout7.shtm

Hi again.

Well I finally pulled the set out from where I mounted it and reseated nearly all the connections on all boards (except on the backplane which is too hard to get to without removing the tubes. I did press the connectors I could see though.) What's the next step? Swapping out a board? If so, which one and how much is one, Curt? Smile

Thanks.

I had the same issue, it was the DC board, that has the vertical convergence IC.

Vertical do you mean moving the lines up and down?

Check all solders on big boards DC and E, then you have to swap something!

Ah, try to start from scratch, put all controls to 128 and check again.

Ciao

After much procrastination, I finally re-soldered all joints on the DC and E boards. The problem with the blue image suddenly shifting is gone (mechanical intermittent,) but the red problem still remains. When you mentioned the convergence IC, which one is that exactly and did you have to replace it?
