Not seeing that code either. Either a non listed code, display partly not working or problem with the system board.

Try unplugging projector, remove point board for now, reseat system, wave and control boards, plug back in and turn on.

Notice if fans are spinning up and how long between turning it on and the display error.

Found it. fc is VCC+15V down. Let me look a little further.

I'm not seeing a fuse on that line so chances are either a bad component somewhere is drawing that line down or there is no +15v output which means a bad power supply. Sad

This is a rare problem on the Xtra. AS mac says, it's either a lack of 15 volts from the power supply or a short on a board somewhere. Problem is, the 15 volts goes almost everywhere in the set. Disconnect the F, A and C boards to start with.

i guess i should mention i was messing with the vertical pots before i read this from Layout and Setup Tips i did this and it ran fine for like 20 minutes and the it just shut off Crying or Very sad

H width control- you can CAREFULLY adjust this control to widen out the raster of the NEC projectors. It’s a good idea to slowly rotate this control while the set is off. If this control is corroded or noisy, it’s possible to blow the deflection board while rotating this control while the set is on. Rotating the control CCW will increase the image width, rotating in a CW direction will shrink the image. Be careful not to overshoot the edges of the tubes as per any CRT installation

Great. Thank Curt for that.

I've told him a couple of times that's dangerous info...

If you read the post again he's says he turned them before he read that section. Curt's section warns you of the consequences. If he read it first maybe he wouldn't of turned them.

Besides, the odd deflection board failure gives me business..Wink

No, more seriously, I have tweaked that pot 100s of times with the set on with no issues. Your results may vary.

Check the two red LEDs on the deflection board. Do either one of them stay on the entire (short) time that the set does come on?

Another suggestion if you insist on turning that pot or any other one for that matter, you should first turn off and unplug the set, take a black marker and put a dot on the part of the pot that turns and a dot on the board in the same location so you have a reference point. Then while still unplugged turn the pot back and forth, 10, 20 even 30 or more times to clean off the parts inside the pot for a good contact. Then set it back to the points you marked, plug it in and turn it on. Now if you must turn it at least the contacts are cleaner and chances of damage are much less.

Sorry Curt but this process may give you less repair work...... 8)

No, I don't need any more repair work. THe problem is, I used to get dozens of emails from people wanting to know how to increase their width, as the remote setting was at 100%, so I put the info up there on the site.

Its actually a good warning seeing how everyone wants to be turning stuff to either try to fix a problem or get a better pic. This way if they read the warning and turn something that fries a board they can only blame themselves.

angelzxr4ti, if you want to try and verify if it's the deflection board or not, locate connector PD on the deflection board. With the projector off and unplugged, disconnect the PD plug. Plug projector back in and turn on. It will only run a few seconds and shutdown and then spit out a code.See if you now get an F8 code.

Yes Curt the one towars the center does stay on longer then the one towards the corner of the board. So even when i unplug the unit and plug it up again it has a AP code then when i turn it on it goes back to fc. Crying or Very sad so how hard is it to get one of these boards or can they be repaired if needed the projector was running fine until i decided to mess with these.Hey Curt if you can fix this board can you make it where i cannot tweak it any more like a little dab of super glue here a little dab there Laughing
