I just picked up an older samsung OTA HDTV receiver so I could watch some HD on my 1031 since analog TV is gone in a few months. I have a fine picture using the composite output to a regular TV set, but when I plug the 1031 into the DB15 I get tearing and rolling, it locked on once when I set it to 1080i, then started with the horizontal streaking again, never has locked onto 480p. I connected the projector to my DVDO Iscan line doubler and bam it came right up to the DVD player clear as day. Something I'm doing wrong ? I figured the receiver would be just the same sort of output as the doubler but apparently its not.

Thanks, Jackson

It may have something to do with the polarity of the sync signal coming out of the SIR-T150. I can't remember which it is on the SIR but if it's minus and your projector will only accept plus then it will behave as you describe. Solutions? Well, I don't think the SIR-T150 has anyway to select one or the other type of sync. You may try running the 1080i through your line doubler (if it has a passthrough). The other option would be to spring for an Extron 202 which can flip that sync pulse for you from one to the other. I'm not familiar with your projector but it might have the ability to accept different kinds of sync signals on different inputs. If you have a BNC breakout cable (off an old CAD workstation) you could try feeding the DB15 into a BNC RGBHV input if you have one.

If I had to guess (and it's only a guess) the projector will only accept positive sync on the DB15 input and the SIR is outputing a negative signal.

One an unrelated note, you might want to open up the SIR and check the one big capacitor that is located on the mains power input module (its the biggest cap in the unit). I bought my SIR off eBay and that cap was swollen and about to burst (its easy to swap out with a new one). Just a thought.....
