scored an 8110 with a really beatup case --not even an issue as it will go in a hushbox-- and wondering what it would take to turn it into an lc pj ?

didnt realize how much contrast was getting washed-out until i started watching old outer limits episodes and seeing how much haloing occurs.

knowing that even a small white spot can generate so much halo has me wanting to go lc.

i have a set of the hd-145 lenses -which i understand are supposed to reduce halo- but cant use them right now as the pj cant be moved farther into the room to get the proper focus.

ive tried and im like within 2 inches of getting proper focus but then the pj is just too far into the room.

would it be just a set of hd-10 lenses or completely new tubes also to get the 8110 to be lc ?

thanks.

You need LC tubes or you need to chance current ac tubes to lc hardwares. This involves cutting ac tubes from current hardware and glueing to lc hardware. You need also two aluminium bars that hold lc tubes in frame. Also those plastic tube shields might be different in lc.

8500 also have astigmatism board that 8110 don't have, so without it would be "only" 8110LC. Wink

to go LC you need the LC chambers with Bellows and c-elements, Plastic housing, upper and lower mounting plates, and HD10 lenses. I have everything except the lenses listed in the FS section.
to make it an 8500 you need the entire dynamic stig circuit with special focus coils and also the contrast modualtion board for uniform screen brightness.
1) I don't feel like the dynamic stig is worth it considering the 8110 comes stock with 2-4-6 pole flare rings and the 8500 has 2-pole only. I have never had triangularity problems on an 8110 where on stock 8500's it's common. Also consider that people who go to Frankenyokes lose the Dynamic Stig anyway.
2) the contrast modulation board is important, I would add that to your machine as I think having uniform screen brightness is important. You need firmware V3.3 or higher for the CLM to see the board (1996 or newer 8110).
BTW, if you buy the LC kit from me I'll include the contrast modulation board for free. Wink I can also walk you through the whole swap with pics if you need the help.

oh forgot to add, the 8500Lc will sit further back away from the screen by about 2 feet.

Incorrect, you only loose the dynamic stig if you use the KF22-11 (Frankenyoke Mark 1) focus coils. If you use the KF22-22 (Frankenyoke Mark 2) you retain dynamic stig.

that's good to know, first time I ever read that. Who the heck would have thought that CJ's franken6yokes actually had a Mark 2? Surprised Is there a thread or link that tells which PJ's the KF22-22 coils came on?

THE 22-22 come from the Sony 1292.
