Saw these doodads on photos of an 1351LC/135LC surfing this morning:
I've never seen them before. Are they some sort of shield to prevent reflections to improve ANSI contrast? How the hell do they fit in there and how do they mount? Anybody know what material they're made of? Is it factory or a user mod? Looks too clean to be user mod to me.
What? Where? When? Why? How?

NEC XG LC tubes come with these from the factory. Must be a means to control reflections and increase ANSI CR.
IIRC they are made of matte paper.

Those Japanese engineers really did not know where to stop when they desinged these projectors. 8)
This is something like the Mercedes Benz of CRT's, and I mean S-Class! Sony would be BMW, Barco would be Audi and Electrohome something from GM; cheap to manufacture and lousy build quality.
But they all give a similar picture.

Yep... mine has those; I am somewhat surprised that projector got a bid at $500. The guy says "Pots are out of position; projector will frequently return error code 'Fd' on power-on" That scares me, yet his listing shows images of the tubes with menus on them, weird.
