I finished the install of my G/F's projector this past weekend.
It's a Sony D50, projecting onto a 110" 4:3 Stewart Studio Tech 130 screen running off of a Sony PC1271 switcher with a line doubler module in it.
The picture looks pretty good for a higher hour projector (6500) but, when I try to adjust brightness it seems like it makes maybe a 5% difference from 0 to 100. The contrast works but anything over 65 and the tubes starts streaking, particularly the red. The whole picture has some streaking issues overall.
I dialed the red gain back a bit and turned the color down slightly on the line doubler. It's a good 480P picture but I'd like to set the brightness better.
Don't know if this matter's but I just replaced the 'A' board on it.
Any sugestions?

My D50 lost its brightness control. Seems to be a pretty common failure.
The solution was to replace three caps on the PA board. Or just swap the whole PA board...

Interesting. Wish I had noticed it before I gave her, her new toy. Thanks for the info.

Forgot to add. If I turn of either or both of the red and green tubes the raster on the blue tube glows bright enough to see on screen. It goes back to normal when all three tubes are on.

Thanks Curt, I forgot to mention this when I called you earlier. I was too busy laughing at Canada Post's sillyness.
The G/F wouldn't allow me to install it on the celing. So next project I have to build her a custom coffee table to fit over it. Then move that damned heavy sleeper couch behind the new coffee table. ( What did I get myself into )
Are all the thing's I'm describing related to the PA board? Would that cause the streaking as well or should I look at something else?
TIA
