I just got a ECP3101 free of charge during the Easter holidays. Tonight I tried to power up the projector, and much to my disappointment there was no light in the red tube (when I look in the blue and green tubes from the front end, there are light).
What could cause that to happen? Is it possible to activate (or disactivate) each tubes (so maybe I just need to re-activate the red tube) in the menu or do I need a new Red tube?
For your information - the blue and green tubes looks fine at first look (no visible wear or burn-in)!
I'm a totally newbie to the "CRT-projector world", so please be gentle with me
BTW - I live in Denmark, so I can't just buy a spare tube
Thanks in advance
Peter
EDIT: I just read the "troubleshooting guide" .......... I did not feed the ECP with any signal (havn't got the RGB-cable) tonight - only plugged in the power cord - I return tomorrow, when I am able to feed the ECP with a video signal I could understand from the troubleshooting guide that the lack of video signal could cause the tube not to power on (just a bit peculiar that it is only the red tube )

There are switches inside that can shut off each tube individually. That's the first thing to check (and obviously the easiest to fix!)

I did test the tubes again with my new VGA to RBGHV cable attached geting signal from a PC! Now all 3 tubes works ........ they just need to be focused and the rest of the setup hopefully will work like a charm

Hello
If red cuts in and out, make note:
There is a circuit board sitting upright under the bell part of the tubes, it is called the backplane. Three black wirees come out of the top of the backplane, they carry low level video out to the circuit boards mounted on the back of each tube. Try taking the wire for red and plug it into the green neckboard, and see if green lights up or not. The connector at the backplane had pins sticking up that were known to tarnish over time. Cleaning the tarnish is not the best fix, better to solder the wires right onto the pins. Another possibility is problems with a circuit board in the rear of the ECP called thee Video Control module, the capacitors would fail over time and a channel could quit working.
