|
|
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, this is what the image displays after about 30 to 40 minutes into a movie. The 909 is fed by a PS3 to a Moome external HDMI and to the 909 RGB port 5. She has high mileage on her but breathtaking image when functioning properly.
It starts off with a small slash or strange scan line about 6 inches long horizontally then spreads to other parts of the screen. They appear on the face of all three tubes.
I do not have a service manual and cannot identify all the boards but this is what I tried so far.
Full reset to midpoint
Checked H Phase
Center rasters
Removed PS3, Moome box and connect direct to laptop
Took temp reading on the boards inside convergence tray by measuring heatsinks
Left to right from front of tray.
Board A with large black heatsink –55 C, board B silver HS –30 C, board C large black HS –33 C, board D (controller?) small silver HS - 55 degree Celsius
Board C feels a bit cool compared to board A & D for such a large size HS (just my observation)
When I unplug the convergence board wire harness (multiple yellow wire with white connector) from the controller in the convergence tray, the lines goes away. I’ve tested some resistors and swapped a few caps on the board but no good. I am not a EE just a hobbyist with a meter and soldering gun that enjoys watching movies on a FP CRT. If any experts or someone that experienced this before can chime in on a fix or things to try it would be definitely be appreciated.
-Tim

NEver worked on a 909, but on older BArcos this is almost always due to a bad convergence driver board. Could be a bad convergence output board as well. The trick will be finding another one without having to buy a new one from BArco..

I predict by the end of the year I'll have a parts 909 in stock, but not any time soon.. Before I scrap one I want a working test chassis..

More and More Cine 9 / 909's coming out of the woodwork it seems. Interesting.
Good luck finding a new convergence board! Mike Parker has worked on the 909 chassis (he fixes them for a company in the US from what I understand). He might be able to help you out and it would certainly be cheaper than buying a new one from Barco! His user name here is mp20748.
