|
|
The Setup:
I have a NEC XG 1100 being fed by a 2nd gen EXT-HD via RGBHV. My HDMI sources are a PS3 and a HD-A2, and my component source is a Motorola cable box. The two HDMI sources have their audio being routed through the EXT-HD and into my receiver via a 25ft optical cable. The cable box has audio going from the box directly into the second optical input on the receiver. I had previously been using a HD-Fury/RTC2200 setup with the same 25ft optical cable.
Audio Issues:
I hear no audio on the PS3 menus, but when I put in the game "Rock Band" I can hear the audio, but there is lots of static (my receiver says PCM during this). When I change the Rock Band options to output in Dolby Surround, I no longer hear any audio, and the receiver blinks the Dolby icon. When I use the HD-A2, I hear audio, but the quality is terrible and sounds like it's 64kbps.
The audio works fine if I go straight from the sources to the receiver, but one of the reasons I purchased the EXT-HD was so I wouldn't have to reconnect an audio and video cable every time I changed sources.
Video Issue:
The video works perfectly with all sources, except when I put in a Blu-ray disc. When I do, the projector loses sync with the box and says "unregistered signal". If I create a new signal entry, I get the same picture. DRM problem? It works fine with HD-DVDs though.

When you put in a blu-ray disc, is it outputting 1080p24? If so, the EXT-HD will only follow the same frame rate, so you're sending 24Hz to your XG, which I doubt it can sync to.

No... it's always been set to 60 Hz, and when I create the signal entry it says that the vertical refresh rate is 60 Hz.

So I double checked the 24Hz setting and it was set to auto, so I turned it off and it works. But it's really weird because it had worked fine with the HDFury and when I created the signal entry it still said the vertical scan rate was 60 Hz. Oh well... it works now so I can't complain . Thanks Gino and Moome.
And Moome said the 25ft cable is too long for the optical transmitter. I'll blame monoprice for not carrying anything between 12ft and 25ft.
