Iris3 is installed on my 1209s. I never bothered to mess with it. I just read the manual and it sounds great if it works. Anyone have any experience using it?
Thanks,
John

Welcome to the Forum,
I wouldn't rely on IRIS for a good setup, it is useful though for getting a watchable image when you try a new resolution or for doing a quick setup after you carry your 1209s over to a friends house for a movie

Thanks, this is an excellent idea as I often take my Barco over to friends for some evening movie watching. I usually start drinking before I do the convergence, so we wind up watching a "3D" movie.

Seriously? A Barco 1209s weighs 181 lbs! You move that thing around often? That's crazy!

I'd hate to see how you get that 181 lbs back home at the end of the evening!
After a night of movie watching/drinking I can hardly get myself up the stairs, let alone nearly 200 lbs of projector.

I have IRIS on my Cine 6 and it gets a good picture, but not perfect.
With my old BG400 i never had it completely converged after several hours of adjusting 100 pots. The 15 minutes IRIS takes gets the picture to about 90% converged. You can probably use IRIS to get it close then manually tweak it to 100%.

Kal......sorry I should have used a different Emoticon. Tongue was firmly in cheek. When I originally installed the projector just getting it from the garage to to the basement was an adventure. I rented one of those "fork lifts" that you hand crank to get it to the ceiling. I hope I never have to move it.

Good to know, I'll give it a try.
I often read where someone says a projector is 80 or 90 percent calibrated. I've never seen 100% in person so it's hard for me to even know where mine is currently at. What I really should do is quit procrastinating and give Ken Whitcomb a call, he's only a couple of hours up the road.
Thanks,
John

Be sure to center the rasters on all of the tubes. Also, you may also have to mechanically align the tubes to make sure that convergence settings aren't oven driven.
On my Cine6 there are menus to focus and center the IRIS camera, you should go through that to ensure its focused and aligned for best performance.

Hi,
One thing you may want to consider is that the IRIS can totally
whack out a nice setup - You would be wise to test it with a new
input frequency so that it will jump into a different memory block.
I have seen several of these in action, but rarely found it to do
an acceptable job. Maybe it would be handy for an AV tech rolling
a PJ into a different presentation venue every day, but for a fixed
install it is definitely better to iterate your setup through the handy
list/guide that Kal linked earlier.
