Hi
(I also posted this question on: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1008961 )

While we were watching a movie, after 2 hours, both the main T6.3AH250V fuse (right next to the power switch) and the 10A500V fuse in the house central blew. (Shuldn't these things happen only on turning on the PJ if it is the PJs fault?)

I havn't changed the fuse yet as I havn't got a spare. But do anyone have any experience/fault knowledge what could be wrong before I change the fuse as they are a bit hard to change?

First I thought that the 1272 blowing both fuses would be impossible as it would (with my low knowledge) be like streching a rubber band untill it would break i two places. Unless something like a powerspike from outside (no thunderstorms that evening though) would FIRST blew the 6.3A, and THEN the 10A. However all other electronics (computer/TV-box) still works.

Then I also found out that more than one fuse may blow if there is a short cirquit in an electronical device. However I measured a little and found no short cirquits.

Then, I just guessing, if a cap can have gone bad (after all they are ~10 years old) a temporary shortage may happen?

By the way, I am running the picture very close to the fosfor, but the scene was very dark when it happened. I also live in a 220V-240V area.

Anyone with any fuse/cap/shortc.-knowledge?

Also, is the "H" in T6.3AH250V important for the replacement? I understand from reading on the internet that "H" stands for high C to minimice lakage over the blown fuse. These seem to be harder to get hold of. Most are the normal ("L" low C) with just a thread inside while the "H" has sand (?) inside the glass chamber.

EDIT: I read in another post on this forum that the first card (nearest the outlet) could be disconnected from the rest of the PJ. If a new fuse now blows it means that its something wrong with the card.

Does this also work for my 1272? The content was apparently in a private mail from Curt so I like to know more.

I found shortcircuits in the pj. Now I have put in new switching transistors. The projector seems fine so far, but I havn't had it on for more than 5 minutes. I guess I can be sure of one thing: there are no short cirquits in there. This must have been either a power spike from the outside or just the transistors dying on their own. Or a heat issue.

I'll report later...
