hi guys. i'm not sure on the edicate of reposts from avs, so if i am making a boo boo, let me know: i take critisism well (just ask my wife).

the pj has fungus, so "i'm goin in!"

those who have done this: have you changed the bellows out at the same time? or is this an unneccesary procedure (unless i damage them in the process).

i thought i remembered reading that vdc used a new compound that didn't allow moisture to migrate like the originals did.

would the newer compound help prevent reoccurance of this problem or is it just the steal screws and metal surfaces interacting.

i've heard the bellows are 100 to 150 each from vdc. while i'ld prefer not to spend the money, please let me know if it is something that should be done while the pj is ripped apart anyway.

thanks,
robb

Just change the glycol. It's a hard job to replace the bellows and before the fungus returns you are years ahead.

If you're in North America, I would send the tube to VDC and do the bellows change. They are 12 years old, it's rubber and it hardens/starts to leak. THe last thing you need is to save a couplea bucks now only to have the bellows leak a year from now. If you're overseas though, shipping is $100+ each way, so you might just change the glycol.

well there you have it rob, Curt and Terry both say yes so this is a no brainer really. According to Scott theVDC Engineer they re-formualted the bellows and I bet the new stuff is EPDM or Viton instead of just straight Buna N.

the bellows were ordered and are at a friends place. i just noticed the advice from curt and j112.

surely it can't be that hard, no?

if it seem's we're in over our heads, i'll abort and sell the bellows, but if there is a guide or if someone who has done it could chime in, it would be appreciated!!

also, the fill screws. does anyone have the stainless ones that are recommended? or know the correct thread pitch and length or better yet know where they can be ordered?
