this could be a bad op amp on your vim for that board, also what type of vim are you using? on the older boards there is a resistor that goes to the SD5401 chip, check the connection at both ends of that resistor. on the newer boards thier may be a resistor going to the op amp( first op amp's) check to make sure that has a good conection. Also try swaping neck boards.

ok I have tried swapping neck boards and no luck there I have also tried multiple vims. and no luck the raster is lit on blue only and you can see interferance on all 3 tubes when the brightness is high. you can see it on blue all the time the raster is also wavy on the sides. and unstable. I will try to get a pic of it to post.

Have you tried the HVPS? if you have an extra swap it out. also i wonder if its the convergence circuit? put up a full white field and then, Unplug the green convergence coil (NOT vertical deflection!) from the amp on back heatsink and see what happens. TSE told me about this for another problem and it might narrow it down.

Hi voodoo7869,
I just noticed that you said earlier that you had swapped out the CLM, was it bad as well?
Have you managed to fix your new problem yet?

Thanks for the update.
When you replaced the clm did the h fail go away?
So then only the v fail was lit?
What was happening because of the contamination in the gun?

what had happened is the vim got zapped by high voltage arcing witch also nailed the clm. they are bolth toast.
when i got it fired up the raster on one of the tubes remained lit with everything turned down. it was contamination in the tubes from being moved around. i have gotten that taken care of as well. while the projector was on i turned the g2 up pretty high and tapped on the metal housing with a hammer not hard just enough to jar the tube. ( NOT ON THE GLASS )
I heard a loud snap from high voltage and the tube was back to normal. all is well now though

Hmm,
So did you just replace the CLM first and then the H Fail went away?
Or did you have to replace both boards for anything to happen?
Your problem is sounding alot like my problem. I think I did the same thing.

You mean if you just swap in one of the bad boards you get H Fail AND V Fail lights right away?
That is going to make it hard to diagnose for me as I don't have a whole set of spare boards.

Oh sure, the vim is the board I won't have.
Oh well I will try what I can and hope for the best.
