I bought a Sypder 2 (the basic package) a couple of months ago when I bought a new digital camera because it was so cheap bundled. Only around $100 USD or so...
Still haven't cracked it open yet however... though I did redo my greyscale with another sensor back around January timeframe and the difference was huge. Got this one for future changes to my setup and to redo the greyscale again (gotta find a free evening some day!)

I would wait to see what one gets with the new Spyder TV Pro before buying anything. It should be out soon.

Wow, for that much I would pick up a good used Sencore.

Right. Not the same product package as the TV Pro package however. I've heard that you need the TV Pro to do FP CRT setups properly....

Kal, I don't see why you would... the Spyder2Pro seems to be fine so far in my limited testing. I'm sure the TV Pro is better, but since no one has one yet I guess we'll have to wait and see

Is this product only useful if you are using a HTPC as a source?

No, its used with a computer to take measurements. You calibrate for each video input (source) as they will be different. You can use it for a source, but then it can get complicated.

madpoet, any updates on this? is it worth buying? how long will a typical colour calibration take with this?
