actually it is a little flashlight, must be some 50 years old, it belonged to my girlfriends father. There are a red, green and white light on it. I just thought THIS is the size I'd like of CRT pj's !! Packed with nanotechnology electronics and laser guns...

Its just unfortunate that consumers are a lot more stupid (ahem, ignorant) than for their own good. One would think that reaching adulthood meant that one would research, but even when the tools for research are already present in their homes they remain the pre-slaughter cows. And, of course, no reseller (present company excluded) is going to educate their buyers. For instance, the the guy with the pneumatic could communicate with the cows entering the slaughterhouse do you think he'd tell the cows what he's about to do?

What would be the correct viewing distance be for a 103" plasma? I work for Panasonic as a document systems tech and after our tech meeting today I wondered into our wharehouse and saw them uncrating the 103" plasma. A couple of us hung around for a few minutes checking it out. It wasn't turned on yet, they have to move it to our demo room, but it does look impressive! As cool as it looks from the front, the back was equaly impressive. It had at least 10 large cooling fans scatterd around. It also runs on 220V. One thing I thought was odd; there is no HDMI input, only DVI-I. I know Panasonic now has a 150", but I can't wait until next weeks meeting to see this huge plasma in all it glory. I'm sure the TV techs will calibrate it. So, how far away do I have to stand for proper viewing? I'm not even sure what the resolution should be.

The GW/CC change crowd must love this stuff, Ha Ha. 220 VAC, must draw quite a few amps if they are running it on 220 instead of 110.
Goes to show you no one takes this GW/CC crap seriously, 103" TV's, who are we kidding that we will be using less energy in the future, I wonder if it has a carbon footprint sticker on it?

Hmm ... Depends on the native resolution. If its 1080 lines then I would imagine around 11'. This assumes you have 20/20 vision, corrected or otherwise.

I sat 4 feet from my 27" TV's, and 5 feet from my 72" diag. small screen projection. Why do they recommend such long viewing distances?

So, I posted about this on another forum (construction) and talked about it in the workplace and I was amazed, but not surprised as it only re-affirmed by position that consumers are ignorant to a stupid point. They buy based on marketing and resist learning that they either have or are about to buy into something with a lot of money and not get much in the way of benefit to them. I think the early denial is a case that they feel duped (correct), but are embarrassed to accept this humiliation and move on.
FORTUNATELY, there are some that have gotten beyond this, and on the heels of an eminent purchase are now asking questions, offering personal viewing information, etc. in an attempt to make a more wise decision. Kudos to them for doing so. Its sickening knowing places like Bad Buy would sell a blind women a car and a dead man a new HDTV when neither can see the visual benefit.
