for powerstip - is ATI still my only option?

I also pulled my Nvidia 8500GT as it has no support for custom resolutions with Vista, I replaced it with an ATI 2600XT and it is now working perfectly Smile

I don't know why Nvidia and ATI don't build in their own "Powerstrip" type application, I hate having to purchase another piece of software to do something that should be included with the videocard drivers. I know Nvidia made an attempt at this but their software was flacky at best.

yeah, thats the real problem.
only a poorly developed and seemingly untested driver to work with

for the majority of Nvidia's target market (gamers) it is fine. but for our niche market, Nvidia seems to be ignoring us. History has proven that pissing of a large group of users is not a good idea. It starts an exodus that they may not be able to curb.

My 2600XT works fine.

Someone on AVS was getting tearing with a 3450 ATI card, so get a mid level gaming card at least.
