Count me in! For $500 mil, I'd be the skankiest ass coke whore you ever saw!
Hey, it's just business. Why wouldn't they take the money?

Proof? Warner did not get paid $500M to convert. Just another rumour that people seem to like to pass along as a fact.
Unlike the $150M Paramount/Dreamworks deal to go HD-DVD exclusive that was confirmed by the studios.

Kal | Jeez Kal, if you were any more of a fan-boy you would have named your first child Sony. Do you really think WB declared themselves Sony exclusive because they really think it's in everyone's elses best interest? Truth is EVERYONE gets paid and those that can afford to pay out the most win. I don't doubt the $500. million WB number for a second, and I bet Netflix got at least 10 to 20 Mil minimum.

Stop the lies...Warner got NOTHING to convert, it was a business decision, and anyone who says different is ignorant...or just pissed because they took a chance, and lost. SO WHAT???
Everyone who's bought into HD disc took the same chance, we all knew that eventually one who have to loose.
And yes, their IS a reason Netflix is dropping HD-DVD, it's called business sense. The few they loose in business will more than be made up for by cutting their HD stock in half...besides no matter what anyone says, they'll be back. It's simple, if your into HT, then HD is the only way to go, what other choice do you have...buy Blu-Rays? or Rent them? OR simply go without? 99.9 are not going to go without.
Lucky I sold my HD-DVD the day after Warner's decision, it didn't hurt so much.

Makes that used A3 I just picked up for $80 sting a little. But I still have a wide variety of movies to pick from. Heck it would take me over 5 years to watch a movie a week in the basement theater and never watch the same HD DVD...by then, hopefully the BR players will be reasonable and complete.
I will also be cancelling my Netflix account.

I don't know if anyone got paid or not, but I imagine the fact that BD offers extra layers of DRM plays a part in the studios' decisions to go that route, given how much they seem to think that is a good thing. (And despite how useless it is in the end for doing anything but irritating people paying for movies.)

Best Buy as "Buy one Get one Free" on about 14 titles of HD-DVD this week. I'm going to pick up a couple. It ain't over till it over...I must say its not looking good at this point.
IMO cutting the price on the players was nice gesture if they want sales to really take off do it by cutting software prices. I'm afraid they waited to long, it should have been done before last Christmas. M$ could have helped by making the player standard in the 360.
I can play both but I dislike the way Sony/Disney pack 20 minutes of trailers at the beginning of every disks. I have not see that with HD-DVD.
Curious, With my HTPC the only way I can bypass all of those trailers beginning on a Bluray disk is to step through them chapter by chapter. Is it that way on a STB?

Once the disk starts playing, choosing "top menu" in PDVD usually does the trick for me.

I think it's worth the price as an upscaling SD-DVD player alone.

LOL! That is a good point. HD-DVD doesn't exactly roll easily off the tongue.

Thanks I'll give that a go!
I picked up a sealed Video Essentials Digital on HD-DVD last night for $18 from an AVS member that was jumping ship. If I can pick up bargains on disks I see no reason to not purchase them.

Given how little it's worth now, I see no intelligent reason to try to get rid of my HD DVD hardware. It works beautifully for upscaling DVD, and all the HD DVD titles I've purchased are beautiful. Given then that I'm keeping my hardware, I see no reason to get rid of any media. If I'm going to keep my existing media and hardware, then I see no reason not to pick up a few more titles if they can be snagged cheaply enough. Who knows how long it will it be before some of the titles will be available on BD?

Like I have said...I don't forsee switching my spending habits until Amazon stops carrying HD DVDs or both my players break and there are no replacement players.

My HD-A2 is a great upscaling SD DVD player. Unfortunately I can't get rid of my current SD DVD upscaler, my Momitsu, because it's network-capable and plays .vob files. Very useful feature that I'm not going to dump. So until I get a PS3 or similar, I won't get rid of the Momitsu. So unfortunately the upscaling features of the A2 are not a big advantage for me. I haven't done a careful comparison but so far I can't see that the A2 upscales any better than the Momitsu.
Other than that, I agree completely with you. I'm still pissed HD-DVD is getting shafted.
