I spent 3+ hours last night dialing in my G70 and my HD satellite finally works. I can tell you that on HD channels the picture is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Regular channels it is okay.

Problems: 1. I can't seem to get the picture from HD satellite to fit on my 16:9 screen. I have 1-2 feet above and 1-2 below my screen. It is also too skinny on the sides.
2. Now my other SD's don't work. It only shows a green picture for my DVD player. I assume it is because it doesn't have a memory set up for the correct output. I tried 1080i first and that didn't work either.
3.Setting the raster within the 4:3 to get a 16:9 picture. I don't understand how to do that. I still don't even know what rastor means but I think it is the area the phosper goes over???

I'm learning fast and have come along way in a short amount of time thanks to all of you.

Wife already saw the picture and was impressed (if I can get it to fit on the screen). Smile

Set up your geometry correctly. The stuff you are asking is very basic stuff and is all over this and the "other" forum. I strongly suggest you buy this:

Yes, that's an **excellent** idea. I should have thought of that. That DVD will walk you through the whole setup process. It's centered around a different Sony projector, the 1292, but most of the concepts will carry over very well to the G70.

Might take a while to get shipped from Australia, but I think it's a great way for a new projector owner to learn his way around his new toy.

I have no idea on your HD box settings but check the set up menu under TV - display type, 4:3 full or 16:9 widescreen. Doug

Andy, you use the "RGB SIZE" key to resize the incoming video signal within the raster once your setup is done (sounds like you're there).

Open blanking all the way up, resize (using RGB SIZE) the video until extends off the screen an inch or two, then close the blanking until it fits the screen perfectly. If you want a little less overscan in your image (more cropped off) make the image a little larger, and use a little more blanking. That will push the network logos (bugs) out a little closer to the corner.

You're on the way!

SC

Thanks SC!
I knew you would be there for me. Only 1 hour til I go home and start messing with it.

I hope I figure out how to set a new memory block to save the other SD sources. I have the manual but it is still confusing.

Hi Andy,

I think you're hooked! For your other inputs, grab a notepad & pencil. Put the PJ in serviceman mode and go thru the bottom keys and write down the values for R,G,B (H&V) for each one(CENT, SIZE, LIN, SKEW, BOW, KEY & PIN) for the frequency you have that works. Don't forget to hit the KEY and PIN keys a second time to get the BALANCE values. Feed the PJ another frequency and go thru the bottom keys and change their values to the ones you have written down. This should get you very close. Press MEMORY to save. This works best if all ZONE adjustments are at midpoint (128). Do this with as many as you think you will need.
