Hey all .

Yesterday i bought a setup DVD off Graham and actually had a few hours today to spend on the projector ( wife shopping , kids not home hence some very rare peace and quiet )

Ive always had a slight colour issue on my projector being on all white , id have a couple of green and blue patches on my screen in different spots and in turn it was affecting my total grey scale . I thought my fix was a new blue or green tube as i assumed 1 of them had just eaten phosphor in that area and caused a different brightness over the face .

Graham went into the astigmatism magnets on the neckboard and to be honest with you , ive never heard of this before watching the DVD but decided to have a play because ive got a Moome HDMI card coming and Grahams comments in the dvd were that if i dont get this astigmatism part right , i can you can forget about a good 1080p . Anyway , i go to my dot patern , out of focus the screen and FMD was i pulling ovals .

I centered all my adjustments to 128 ( and it got worse lol ) so went to the magnets an had a play and got them PERFECT on both ways of focus .

TO my amazement , i am now scanning a noticeable thinner razor sharp scan line and my problem with the hot spots on the all white screen are ALL GONE as i now have a perfect white , this has rectified my issue 100% .

Thanx Graham ( and Matthew for the very thorough filming ) and i just wanted to post this thread incase there are any noobies to CRT that may have the same problem cause ive just saved myself a good $2000 on tubes when the problem was something very simple .

Adam .

Maybe this is why i cant get the green tint off the left side of my screen. My red grid is very sharp but the green is not so much and blue i purposely defocus to help out the blues output. I'll work on it today or tommorow. Thanks for the Info Adam! BTW what projector?

Sorry Athanasios , i should have mentioned that i own a G70 .

and yes i also had the same problem as you but instead it was with the blue but blue has come up sooooo good now because of these magnet fixes that i can now confidently fully focus it for pure sharpness as i always used to bloom the focus on the blue .

Its about getting the dot pattern up on the screen and defocusing it both ways and making sureyour dot defocuses in a pure circle and not looking like Saturn and its rings as thats what mine looked like . The idea is to adjust the neckboard magnets by turning them untill you get the best ircle you can , oval wont do it must be circular , once you do this when you refocus that dot comes up like a laser sharp dot hence perfect scan lines .

For the experienced CRT guys here im sorry to go into it so much as its obviously second nature to you guys but i just wanted to mention this to some noobies who may think they have a problem with tubes thats not there . Ive been in CRT for many years but not as hardcore as most of you and only found out about this yesterday
