I am in a quandary!!! I tried to fire up my PJ and nothing! It was working fine the day before but now I get no power in the unit at all. No standby lights, no LED's, no nothing!!!

I have a spare unit for parts and tried swapping the main PS board but still nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can begin my trouble shooting???

Hi

Try checking the fuses in the set. Download a copy of the service manual if you aren't sure where the fuses are.

Check the fuses on the AC input board next to the SMPS. If not, send me both SMPS and hte AC input board. Check the power cord. Check the AC outlet.

Don't have one of those but if the fuse is ok also check the power resisters on the AC input board.

Well I checked the fuses on the AC Input board and the SMPS and they all check OK. I also, swapped both boards with (2) spares from another PJ and still no luck. I tried a different power cord and AC outlet. Any suggestions as to where to go from here?

Do you have a DMM and a soldering iron and know how to use them? If not then get a big box and email Curt and ask him what boards he wants you to send him. I'm not being a dick but we cant trouble shoot it for you if you dont have some basic knowledge of electronics. Sorry.

Yes, I have both a DMM and a soldering iron. I have a full set of spare boards so I can swap them out but I was not sure whether the problem is in a specific board or on the motherboard, etc.

I am not an electronic guru but I'm sure I can check voltages, continuity and perform some soldering if necessary, but I do not have an extender board.

Your going to have to start from the beginning and check some voltages.

go to page 6 and locate A/C in. Test for A/c input. If its there locate points for 300VDC and test for that.
Post findings.

If you don't have even stand by led, check if there is about 300V in smps sub board fuse.

Well thanks to all! I have the PJ running after replacing the AC Input board, SMPS as well as the controller board. I had to gp through a complete setup since the convergence etc. was wacked. The only problem I now have is that the wireless remote no longer controls the PJ. I assume this is because I replaced the controller board. How do I synchronize the old wireless to the replacement controller since I don't have the other remote?

Check for a nicked wire on the controller. That would have taken out a fuse on the SMPS.

Thanks again to all (especially macgyver655). I never had to go through this procedure so I apologize for my ignorance! I see that there are Baud switch settings on the controller that need to be set. I assume that is where my trouble lies. I will just match the same settings from the old controller board. I think that should do it.

When going through my re-convergence, I noticed that some settings were at the extreme. I know that can't be right, so I plan to start over when I have 3-4 hours to dedicate. My biggest question always seems to be the centering of the green tube raster since my adjustments never seem to show a visible shift (vertically) in the position of the raster??? I'm thinking this is where my problem lies since some of the convergence settings are requiri9ng much too much adjustment.

In the past, I have followed the setup procedure in the installation manual, can you suggest a better reference to use or is this the best?
