Projectors that have constantly drifting convergence have one of two problems (or both):

(1) Old components that are no longer within spec. Usually electrolytic capacitors are the first thing to go. Replacing $100 worth throughout the machine can do wonders.

(2) Improper setup pushing the electronics too hard. For example, using point convergence on a NEC anywhere other than at the very corners, or going outside the 40-60 rule on Barco convergence grids. If you have to do any of these, your mechanical setup isn't right.

Well mine drifted because the STK chips were going south (I think). I certainly don't know, but I would think there could be other reasons for drift.

PS: As long as you don't go crazy, G70s don't seem to mind relatively hard pushing of convergence adjustments. I push mine fairly hard to get rid of the infamous gull wing bump. It doesn't seem to bother it.

LOL , someone said it ealier , i must just be anal about it and always just think in my head that i can somehow get it better ... haha

I find i play more with colour balance than anything else

Adjusting beam astigmatism (CPC magnets) fixed my drift problem.

OMG .. your not going to believe this but yesterday i went to Greame Johnsons house and picked up 1 of his set up DVDs and when we got to the astignatism section i immediately went to check the status of mine as ive never done this setup and mate was i way out of wak , in fact i was showing quiet a sharp oval effect .

Ill have a play over the weekend and rectify it .
