Hey folks,

Am about to purchase a barco 701 from another state. Am going there for work anyways, so I thought I'd bring it back with me on the plane. Trouble is, the Barco is about 38kgs (84lbs), so I need to get it to around 68lbs to meet the maximum requirement for air transport (as luggage). I was thinking I bring a screwdriver with me and take the barco apart.

What is the quickest bit I can take out of the PJ with as few screws as possible that would weigh approx 16lbs or more? The lense block? The power supply?

Thanks!

Lenses are definately something to pull to reduce weight. Power supplies may also work depending on how they are mounted (power supplies on a Marquee are easy to pull, not so sure on a Barco).

Just be careful if you try to put some of the boards in your carry-on Wink

I believe the lenses are about 10 lbs each. Those alone might get you under the limit. They're easily to pull with a long, straight blade screw driver. The power supply? in the front of the 701 is easy to pull but doesn't weight much. The quadtrupler was a little bit of a pain to pull and maybe to put back in. I was/am parting out a 701s. It weight a few pounds.

So, you're going to duct tape a handle on it and call it luggage? Just remember, cargo handlers are not the gentle type. I'd talk the airline about this and luggage insurance.
