Thankx!
I guess go ahead and wire up te other devices as you can and we will do a serial link to the barco since there are plenty of good tools (symbols) built in for that.
Gooodluuuck!

"APC Smart UPS.umc", but you can just put it in the programs directory- it will find it there too I found out. It will show on the bottom of the "symbol tree" under either user modules or program modules depending on which folder it's in.
Good luck,

OK, I'll try that when I get back from shoulder therapy and shopping with the ole-lady. Also, when I copied the VT pro E sample to my program, it automatically converted to a suitable screen for the CT-3500. I did remove the grapics at the top of the second page then snapped back to grid but the home page is funky.
Thanks,

I am not sure if the st-cp has enough drive for a blaster, will test it today and let you know. If it does I can drop you one in the mail as I have plenty. If it does not you will need that amplifier I linked you to before. I will let you know tonight.

I am definitly doing something wrong here. I have less trouble getting serial devices to work building modules from scratch then I'm having importing this pre-built sample into my system. In the VTP sample, I've got the actual control page sized to fit the CT-3500 and look OK but the opening screen appears to be one large button with a couple of graphics in it. The button is resized but I can't seem to figure out how to re-size the graphics to fit without overlapping.

I just came across this forum and topic and am very excited. I want to learn about Crestron Programming and have been looking for someplace to get me started. This is exactly what I am looking for. I just had 2 Crestron systems installed in my house, but want to learn at least the basics of the programming. I am good friends with the installation company and they gave me the source code for my installs. I am in the process of purchasing some used Crestron equipment to experiment with (don't want to fool with the installed equipment until I feel much more comfortable with what I am doing).
I am looking forward to the continuation of this topic and more lessons.
Thanks to everyone for their inputs and knowledge.
Scott

ST-CP will power a blaster without any problems. One of the few IRs in my system is a blaster for a RP tv. Didn't want the take the cabinet apart to find the IR receiver.

I purchased two off ebay. just generic crestron/amx compatible blasters. about an inch long by .25" wide. Came with a mount to put under the device or stick to a shelf. I don't see any listed for sale right now. I'll pull the email later tonight and get the seller's name.

http://nurr.org/gallery/Xpanel_views
here are my vt-3500 pages converted to xpanels. The Source Select buttons are interlocked and enable common buttons for each device (transport, keypad). Selecting a source also pops up the control window for that device. All pop up windows are part of a complex logic that closes the window after 1.5 minutes unless a key on that window is pressed. Channel buttons use button pushers to enter the channel digits. Digital gauge is feedback from the reciever, black box on the main screen is a combo serial feedback from reciever and my logic. It's not the prettiest but the colors and styles work well with the vt-3500. All programming done by me (touchpanels and controllers), with my friend pointing me in the right direction when I needed it.

Looks like I'll have plenty of time to work out the bugs here. I just got back from the Dr's office and I'm out for another ten days

That big ups beastie showed up today. Now I have to make a control cable to suit it. I guess it's time to pull out my Crestron manual and double check C's pin-out. I know it's a bit different as it the APC's.
Did I say big? This frigging thing is huge..................And heavy

I have been following the steps and have run into this brick wall..."Incomplete symbols" message when I go to compile. Could it be because of the 2-way STX vs the 1-way ST?

In the "Program View" tree, look for anything with a "!" in front of it. That will be the incomplete symbol(s). Click to open it (or them) and in the "Detail View" right click on the opened symbol(s) and choose "Make symbol Complete". That will fill in any required fields with a dummy "//" signal name and allow you to compile.
The STX should be basically the same but you do have feedback joins that go back to the panel (2-way vs 1-way).
Sounds like your almost ready to test!

Question: How is the TP attached for the transfer? To the computer or to the MP2 com for the transfer?

It hooks up via a special cable to the Cresnet port on the MP2 (controller), there is a function in Viewport to "Send Touchpanel" which instructs the controller to pass on the data to Cresnet.
See the STX1550 manual here, it has instructions on how to build the cable.
http://www.crestron.com/downloads/pdf/product_manuals/stx-1550c.pdf
You will use Pro-E to make the download (not Simpl), that will be another thread. Hopefully there are a few good screens in it now you can use in the meantime.
Good luck,
JM
