I am entering the world of CRT projectors and recently bought a data 800.

I bought it from a very nice guy who was moving and didn't have any video source to connect to it. He powered it up and got it to display the set up screens and all three tubes were working.

Now I have it home connected to a dvd player and it powers up but I get no picture, nor can I get the set up screens when I press the adjust button on the controller. In fact, I cannot get anything to happen with the tubes at all. The red power light on the back comes on. I press standby and it turns green. All the voltage lights come on except the scan fail light which is not on. There green light on the SMPS board. The EHT fuse and SMPS main fuses are OK. On the controller unit the standby power, main power and block match lights are on - solid red and the processor cycles light is blinking?

I have been going through the set up guide and troubleshooting tips and am not sure what to do next. Any ideas?

I also have a graphics 1208 that has a bad quadrupler in it that I can get parts from, if there are any parts that are swappable that might be my problem.

Thanks,

Peter licht

Peter
download a manual and make sure its reading the right input source (ie. S-video)
use the key pad under the cover to switch to the right source.

Thanks. I have connected to the rgbhv port and the video port with no results on either. I can't even get the adjustment display to work. I shouldn't need a video feed to get the adjustment grid with those dots, should I? When I press the adjust button on the keypad, I should see something no?

No the Red EHT light is not on. I checked the eht fuse too. It is OK.

And no, the remote is not unplugged. The standbye switch works - turns the fans on and turns the light from red to green on the back of the set.

It sounds like either the SMPS or the EHT board is bad. Let me know if you want to send them up for testing.

Oh, the H shift boarc could be bad as well.

Ok. Thanks. I will send them in. I was thinking it was something grossly obvious that I had overlooked since I have never done this before.

In the meantime, Can I swap the boards from the Graphics 1208 that I have?
