Since when is $300. for a burned tube a great deal ???

I've got a whole garage full of burned tubes, are they now a pile of gold ?

I've been throwing them out slowly, have I been throwing away gold ??

I just don't get how anyone can think buying burned tubes is a great idea. I mean, maybe for $20. each, but $300. each ?? Thats just crazy to give some dumpster diver that much for unknown performance condition junk...

If they are the rebuildable type then aren't they worth about US$100 which is the VDC core charge when you buy a rebuilt tube without sending in your old one?

Wasn't looking at those, I was referring to the new minty tubes. $900 vs $1600+ is great value

He has a new website setup with some more pictures. This is starting to look more legit, so hopefully there is going to be another source of tubes around, and he still says that he is sending me a set of used ones to look at.

My last reply may be premature... It looks like tubularoutlet uses the same legitimate registrar (and private domain name provider) as a number of iinternet scammers... googling for the PO box and zipcode turned up a bunch of 419, money mule, and other 'net scaries.

As it happens, Microsoft has an article describing private domain name services and even uses the same example (melbourneit.com)

OK... Back to my first analysis... "Ms. Monica Ponder" is the registered administrator of tubular outlet AND is known to the Central Fla BBB as the principle contact of Q4 Services LLC, a company that installs and supports flight simulators worldwide and who feature CRT and caligraphic projectors prominently on their website. Hmmm......

I just want you guys to know that I no way endorse or am affiliated with this guy, and the whole thing could be a scam, I don't know. That is the problem now a days, you cannot trust anyone!

He shipped out a set for me to look at, but who knows if he is using me as a doorway, not sure... It's just like everything you purchase on Ebay or the net, you have to take care, or you get screwed in the end.

Hi. My name is Tiffany from Tubular Outlet. I came across your thread discussing our newly opened eBay store. I would like to tell you a little more about our products and hopefully ease your concerns.

Tubular Outlet is affiliated with a commercial interest that regularly purchases CRTs in bulk. The new tubes come directly from the manufacturer. The used units come from commercial projectors in which the CRTs must be replaced often to meet industry standards. The CRTs have much life left in them. Over the past few years, we have been approached by consumers on a regular basis requesting that we sell these used or “pre-owned” units. For this reason, we chose to begin listing the units on eBay.

Because we receive both the new and used units in bulk, our prices are reasonable for the average consumer. We chose to create a new eBay identity to remain somewhat autonomous from our sister company. This is basically to minimize any backlash from our suppliers because we are selling the units at such a low price. Because Tubular Outlet is relatively new, there is not yet any feedback on eBay. However, we have sold several units and anticipate that feedback will be posted soon!

As a response to your concerns, we have begun posting specific pictures at www.tubularoutlet.com of the CRTs so that you can see specific units. If you have any questions that I have not answered today, feel free to write to me at tiffany@tubularoutlet.com. I have been authorized to offer you a 10-day money back guarantee on any CRTs that you would like to purchase in January or February. I cannot give you the money-back guarantee if you burn the phosphor. Please send us an email prior to placing an order to let us know is you would like a specific unit and please reference “CurtPalmeForum” in your email to secure this additional guarantee.

Thank you for your interest in Tubular Outlet.

9" tubes wont help me. I would venture to say that most of us here have 8" machines. Any plans to stock other sizes?

I don't know, as I am not that much of a snob like Techman. He used to always admonish people to buy brand new tubes and nothing else. I could live with "7" rated tubes for $250 apiece. If I could pick up a a burned out Marquee for cheap, then I could have a decent 9" pj for an inexpensive price.

Tiffany,
Good luck! Are you the company that Scott from VDC talked about? I think he mentioned that there was a company in Orlando that was sitting on a big stockpile of tubes.

As dropzone said, is there any 8" tubes on the way? That would make a lot of people happy.Smile

The question is that if they have access to the used tubes then do they have access to the used projectors?
