I Bought a PS3 just yesterday. Then I read a rumor that the 40GB version, the one I got, will be reduced to $299 on Jan 28 and the 80GB version will be discontinued. If true, I will either get a refund of $100 on a price guarantee or I will return it and then rebuy it at the new price. So I will wait until the rumor is verified before I open it.

Sony is denying the price drop story.

Rumors of a PS3 price drop to $299 surfaced on Monday in connection with the newly confirmed white PS3.

Yeah, well - we can hope can't we? After all, Warner denied that they were dropping HD-DVD and then suddenly did! I guess we'll find out Sunday. I think it would be a good idea to drop the price by $100 but I suppose losing even more per unit doesn't thrill Sony too much.

Panasonic DMP-BD10A
+ Suports all audio formats over 7.1 Analog (except SACD but who care's?)
- manual flip down front panel (again who cares? you have to get up to change the disk anyhow )

Samsung BD-UP5000
+ Analog Outputs
- no support for Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master audio (yet).
-Lattest firmware (Jan 08) hasn't fixed compatability problems with some Fox titles (Die Hard )
Promised HD audio update May of 2008 - we'll see.
