Just to be safe I reported them because usually when there is an outside link hidden in the description it means they're trying to hook some fool and it's also against e-bay regs.

Scam... purveyor of vintage clothing and collectible crap, and high-end electronics?
What's up with the Private auction items in the "view feedback?"

BYANDSELLIT

"BY" ANDSELLIT? You'd think they'd get this right at least. Other than a couple mispellings, which probably mean nothing, it looks legit. The seller could have been asked to sell it by someone he was buying furnifure from - I suppose.

"Buyandsellit" was already taken.

I'm not sure it's a scam. In fact, I don't think so.

First of all, the items are all listed in their ándale Gallery. Unless their ándale account was hacked... the account owner had to list it. A phished/hacked ebay listing wouldn't have shown up in the ándale Gallery. Did you look at any of the other auctions? It's not all clothing. There's a $700 Betty Boop illustration by the original artist. They say they "buy, sell and consign quality furniture and accessories, One piece to full estates."

Most important, they take credit cards and PayPal... and they supposedly offer in-person and pickup. I don't see any of the scam hallmarks except for the atypical listing for the seller. I bought a set of Berkline's (with some older HT equipment) from an art dealer in Chicago. He was at an estate sale buying art, the bidding was insanely low, so he bid and won the home theater stuff.

So, it looks like the real deal to me. I'd say the seller picked it up as part of an estate. As for the all private feedback, I know collectors can be kind of freaky about keeping their identities forbidden. Some collectors send 'proxy bidders' to live auctions, so other bidders don't know who they're bidding against. It's common practice with fine art, furniture and collectibles I think for some collectors to keep their identities hidden.

The bad thing is that it could have completely fried tubes. I wouldn't consider bidding on it unless I could assess the condition in person. It would be a good buy for a parts machine at that price, but if you were buying it to use in the theater, it's a bit of a gamble without seeing it.

Looks legit to me. Almost 2,000 transactions by the seller and no signs of it being a hacked account.

I think I stand corrected... there has been some other AV stuff recently, including a NuVo automation controller interface and a few cables.

Anybody near this thing that can put eyeballs on it?

I've sent 2 emails (1 on Sunday and 1 today) asking if I could have someone stop by and take a look at the unit. No reply to either email.

At his starting bid, he's probably got a dozen or more inquiries by now. The listing says their office is closed Mondays and who works on Sunday? See what happens tomorrow. I'll be surprised if you don't have a response by tomorrow afternoon, because it looks pretty legit to me.

I have see auctions like that where the item goes up several thousand dollars in last hour. At $1650 a pop for tubes it better not go to high unless the tubes condtion are known to be good. Is it easy to reset the hours on G90?
