My Barco Retro Graphics 801s has been sitting for awhile. I went and turned it on just now, and it heard a hissing sound and smelled ozone. Found that electricity is arcing from the HV lead to the side of one of the CRTs, I can visibly see the blue charge. It is coming from close to the CRT end of the cable, about where the clear plastic sleeve over the cable end. The HV cable looks fine. What do you think is causing this?

Thanks!

High voltage always finds a way. A pinhole is all that is needed. Try replacing or swapping cables.

I may need to buy a new cable then. Upon closer inspection (not too close!), the high voltage arc is definitely from where the HV lead goes into the cap on the CRT. I tried replacing the zip tie there, but it still arcs. Can I repair this lead, or must I get a replacement?

Make sure the connection is good. You could try some silicone to the area that arcs. Could be the cable has gone open ...

No, most likely the rubber has broken down. I'd replace all three at this point, they are cheap, and that way you don't need to worry about it for another 20 years..Smile
