I found some older threads on the other site regarding mods made to Marquee focus boards by someone named Chris Stephens. Does anyone know more about this? There wasn't much more said about it. I found a website by an individual by that name, but I haven't actually been able to get ahold of anyone.

Thanks, Mark

Your focus board is already slightly modded with higher value caps per Chris Stephens suggestions but without tantalums. Modding the focus board doesn't produce any heavy gains in performance from what I've seen. The changes are somewhat less noticeable than modding areas like the HVPS and LVPS which are recommended, after the VIM & VNB's have been modded.

I don't think he ever will be. By the time he finishes every single mod, his caps will already be aged and ready for replacing again. Laughing

Isnt that the truth! have you seen how many mods there are for the Marquees! plus it deosnt help that i look at each board and associated schematics look at the components that the video path goes through or any other parts that may send "noise" to the video path then scour the chip makers catalogs looking for a newer better version of the chips! I am Addicted! So far i have done fan mods , just go done with the hd144 lens' with the old style mounting plates, and the ceramic resistor mods to the HVPS and the neck boards. the back ground noise when looking into the tubes on all white field went down . but the bigest reduction of that noise was my installation of the 2035-03p Vim, not modded. If you dont have this Vim look for one! worth the 400 clams i paid for it.The board i had in before was an old 2005-03p that had max 4224 chips on it, it had some smearing that i think was cause by it not having the right feedback resistors that should go with that chip.
