Now that I've got one of these Barco units, besides popping a green and then a blue tube in at some point in the near future, what other upgrades would help me get the most out of it? I'm thinking about upgrading the lenses right off the bat as well. I don't want to spend boatloads of money, but hey, some of you know a lot more than I do, so let me know what you think. I appreciate it.

Also, for the record, considering I don't have a solid setup right now and am using a bedsheet and a horrible green tube, I'm pretty stoked with the picture quality. It's quite shocking in fact that these look so good with just DVD and a shotty green tube. Gotta love it. CRT was definitely the way to go.

I would spring for a real or good DIY screen before I thought about lens upgrades.

If you have space I would get a sheet of wilsonart DW and tack it up, I would put lens upgrades way down on the list. For me it would go (screen, new or better tubes, and then maybe lenses and MP type mods)

And as far as tubes, it's sporting the P16LNQ's right now. What are my options for new tubes? If anyone's got anything they need to dump, let me know. I'm quite open-minded especially on the green tube as the one I've got now is just awful in terms of burn in.

I'll definitely have a real deal screen of some sort up by the end of the month. I'm aiming to have the whole project done by January 31st so I can host a Lost Season Premiere party in HD. Interesting what you say about the lenses. I've got HD8's now and it seems that they're not so well looked upon.

Also, anyone know how I might upgrade the firmware of my iris2 to iris3?

Don't you also need the newer hardware to support iris 3.

From what I've read if you've got iris2 you can upgrade to iris3 with just a firmware upgrade.

Upgrading from IRIS2 to IRIS serves absoluty no purpose. The IRIS doesn't do its job very well, and the only difference between 2 and 3 is that 3 does it faster. A proper manual geometry and convergence job is always better.

Depending on the software version of your unit - the latest software will have better geometry control along with the IRIS 3. I completly agree with RB - the IRIS sux - it is neat to watch if your bored or stoned but thats about the extent of its usefullness.

Yeah, I mean, I must say, it pretty much is useless, I guess I just like having everything as up to date as possible.
