Is there a way to enjoy dolby suround that is broadcast along with HD channels? Heres what ATI says:

"Shannon,
Our Multimedia center software doesnt have the digital feature that you want unlike with the Dvd player like theatre tek. Please try other 3rd party tv software instead (ie. powercinema, beyond tv), although we do not have any support on these.
Regards,
AMD Customer Care"

All i want to do is hear the Digital audio that i know damn well is there on some HD programs. Im fully set up for DD and DTS via TT passind audiuo to Audigy and then to A/V receiver. Anyone run into this?

I coulda swore I had the DD sound while watching my HDTV Wonder, and , as long as you didn't export to a different format (eg Mpeg2 ) you could still play back recorded stuff with DD. I haven't played with that in a couple of years though.

im not doing any exporting. just live viewing. in their audio setup options i only get sound if i check "downmix". Its pretty stupid if their card will not capture and pass DD!!

Its all in the software. Your card maybe capable of DD but the software may not be. What version of Powercinema were you looking at? How old is your Wonder card?

Also this program doesn't seem to matter what tuner card you have and it has a free trial. So you can try it and see if it does what you want without buying it.

Welcome to ATi software hell. It's like owning a Corvette with an Edsel engine in it. Nice hardware bad software to make it go.

I remember doing an "update" that completely took out WinXp and I had to pave and reinstall the box. They had the update (downgrade ) turn off all the analog audio, route all the audio over the PCI buss along with the video and set the analog video capture on 240i (!) which had almost a 3 second delay. People that were running their PS2's and XBOX's into it had a masive cow.

ATi's response? Buy a more recent card and use the newer software. We don't care that you bought out top of the line 9800 AIW PRO 3 months ago and expect it to work. Pricks!

I think it is good of them to at least suggest an alternative,it would be better if it included a note to the effect that they are doing development on the problem....
