Why is it that desktops or displays of text on our screens is said to be not as sharp as video material?

Say you are watching a movie and some text gets displayed on the screen, is it going to be sharper sense it's being displayed along with the movie? It just seems odd to me that there would be a difference, you would think that the sharpness would not be any different in a display of text or someone's face.

Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks, Deron.

I haven't heard this, I'm sure if you showed text on your desktop and text of the same size and shape in a movie they would look the same. It's probably more likely that the text in the movie is larger.

LC adds to this effect too.

Text is shaper with AC.

But the LC LOOKS sharper for video, as the haze is removed.
