I am waiting on a EXT-HD Moome box to drive my Marquee and only have SD tv's right now. But I have a PS3 and my wife wanted to go buy some movies that are available on Blu-ray and SD DVD. I am tempted to tell her to get the Blu-ray version. But I am not sure if we will be able to play them on the SD tv.

The PS3 has composite (480i) output so I don't see why you couldn't watch your Blu-rays on a 'regular' standard def TV. Same as any HD-DVD or Blu-ray player.
