Reduce or eliminate? Will the second batch still have some issues? Do you have an ETA on the second batch?

| Quote: | | Quote: | Ok, so both Moome and Walter (WTS) have now tried a different solution that works. Parts will be sent Barry and I so that we can test it on my unit too. Turns out that some of the parts the manufacturer used were incorrectly spec'ed based on what Moome asked for. When replaced the problem went away.
Barry and I should be able to confirm in a week or two once new parts are received, after which info will be given on how people can get their EXT-HD fixed.

I have been in contact with Moome via email regarding both the EE problem as well as the problem with the remote. He advises that he has found a fix for the EE problem. He has also informed me that there is a new chip that will apparently fix the erratic remote behavior both of which can be done at the same time. I guess at this point we are just waiting to find out how to get these repairs effected. |
So will Moome be waiting to confirm results with Kal before proceeding with the second batch?
Once the fix is confirmed how long before the second batch will start to ship?
Has the second batch already been manufactured by the factory?
If already manufactured, will the factory be applying the fix or will Moome have to fix each one before shipping?
I am sure Moome is focusing most of his time on getting the first batch working well, but maybe he will have enough time to get the second batch rolling again.
Thanks

Just thought I would bump this thread to see if there is any more info on ETA for second batch, now that Moome apparently has all the fixes.

Turns out that Moome's going to have some extra EXT-HD units in the second batch slated to ship late Feb 2008:
delay after delay after after delay after delay after delay after delay after delay after delay after delay after delay repeat: (sorry couldn't resist )
Well at least we will get it this year or any time soon

Dear Kal:
sorry for late response, the trouble is the parts I use for ext-hd was out of stock, lead time is not known.
I will try other vendor in the world, and there is a weekly holiday coming due to chinese new year.
so the ship time will about end of Feb. I am very worried too. I will try to find way to speed up!

Hi,
Can you update us on the status of the second batch?
Did you find new vendor for parts?
Has manufacturing started?
Thanks

In defense of Moome you have to understand, I know it's hard to but try, Moome is not a big manufacturer which makes it hard for him to buy in larger quantities the parts he requires to build his units. Not only that he is a one man show who tries to gauge what this small market wants/needs so he doesn't go over board on ordering parts. If any of you have ever been in the electronics manufacturing industry then you would know that stock comes and goes very quickly from these distributors and you can't buy direct from many manuafcturers unless you are buying huge quantities.
So if some of you don't like his delay after delay-------, then perhaps you should just sit back and think for a moment what you'd do if you were in his shoes. He's doing everyone a great service offering these units, I don't see anyone else offering the same level of units he offers. I think we should all be greatful he is even willing to stick his neck out as far as he is. The same goes for Kim and his units, he has had just as many delivery problems in the past and he's in the states. You'd think these guys are making big money off selling these units but you'd be dead wrong!
Consider yourselves lucky that you can even purchase these units to make your CRT projectors more useful with the latest technologies for sources.

Walter,
My post was not intended as a complaint. When I order the EXT-HD, I was very aware of Moome’s previous products and that there were possible (probable delays). I do consider myself very lucky that Moome and others are producing products for such a small niche market. My post was only intended to keep others informed of the status. I deal with development delays at my work all of the time, and while some customers are never happy with delays, most customers are happier if you keep them updated with frequent status so they understand why there are delays. I personally am not upset about the delays, but I am very anxious about the product. I hope my questions for status have not become annoying and they should not be taken as complaining. I also realize that there are many others here that are complaining, just try not to confuse me with them.
Walter’s comments are still very valid for all of you that are complaining and I agree with him.

Walt,
Clarence once scolded me, saying that after all of these years, I should know Moome is not going to meet his delivery dates. He never has in the past, and he's not likely he's going to in the future. So why get upset about something you know is going to happen. Well I think Clarence is right, but this situation begs the question, "When will Moome learn?" He should know he's giving dates that can't be met, and I'm sure he does know. How could you do it so many times and NOT know.
Offering a small niche market items for sale like Moome does, can't be easy, especially the way Moome handles it. I like him just fine, but I don't think for a minute he's doing this to be a good guy. He's doing it for the money, and only the money. To present it as a good will project is simply not true. Moome doesn't hang out on any of the forums and doesn't really know any of us. There's no reason to put up with this hassle to help a bunch of strangers he has no attachment to on any level, other than money.
I don't really care at this point about Moome's delivery dates consistently being missed by several months, but please don't try to make excuses for Moome's poor business practices. He's had many failures to learn from, and at this point there are no legitimate excuses.

Of course he's doing it for the money, why do most of these companies do it. I only know of one person selling to small market who isn't and that's Kim. Would you go through all this to break even? He doesn't hang out because he doesn't have any time to hang out. He does have a family and a life and not to mention the 100s of emails I'm sure he gets everyday.
I'm sure he does get a sense of satisfaction from designing and building a successful product just like any other designer/builder would.
"When will Moome learn?" He should know he's giving dates that can't be met, and I'm sure he does know.
Wow and that doesn't remind you of any other manufacturer? Just off the top I can think of a few in the BR group! Promise promise promise and never deliver. At least Moome is just late!
Man if you guys don't like the way he does business then spend your hard earned cash on a competitors product. Oh, I forgot, no one else has a competitive product!
