I am having difficulty getting my PS3 (HDMI) and my XBOX 360 (Component) to display 1080p correctly on my Ampro 4600.

I have the new Moone EXT-HD box and it seems to be working fine, after extensive testing and comparing.

My problem is that the projector is shifting the picture and cutting off about 1/8 of the picture on the left and no amount of phase shifting or blanking adjustments will display it. The display and color is correct and when aligned looks great except for the fact that the left side is cut off.

I believe it is because the Ampro 4600 doesn't like the horizontal frequency that both the PS3 and XBOX 360 are providing, which are standards.

Has anyone else been able to get either of the systems to run at 1080p on an Ampro 4600?

Thanks for the help Wink

I've got the EXACT problem here with a PS3 through a Fury at a customer's house (1 owner projector, he bought it new from Ampro).

Super low hours on it, and the pix is shifted to the left by about 18" or so. Putting H phase to 100 brings it to about 6" from the right of the image. It's less so at 1080i or 720p, but both of those resolutions also cut the image off.

I am waiting until I get another 4600 here to try the same thing in the shop, but from what you seem to be saying, this is an Ampro issue. I'm sure there's a pot inside to adjust H phase, but slight tweaking at the customer's house doesn't seem to solve anything.

I'll update sometime around Xmas when those 4600s should be here, but right now I think we're both stuck.

Minimum horizontal retrace on the 36/4600 is 2.8uS. Probably closer to 3uS. I think horizontal blanking for 1080P is less than 2.8uS so some of the picture will be lost.

Could this issue be source/Fury combination specific? I have a 3600 running from my HTPC (Geforce 7600GS video card). I output 1080p or 720p via VGA into an Extron 202xi then RGBHV to the PJ. The image shifts only 2-3" going from 720 to 1080P. I see no image cutoff.

An Extron 202 or similar will probably cure his problem. The Extron can shift the image quite a bit from one side to the other.

I tried that here, I got all sorts of smearing and streaking. Didn't work for me at the customer's house.

I have only had that when it was going off the side of the tube face. But I have NO experience with the HD Fury or the moome boxes.

If anyone can post a pic of the green or "y" channel as shown on a scope at 2 or 5uS/div, it might help to solve this mystery. Make sure to show the sync and blanking info.

The frequency (68 ish KHz) is no prob for the Ampros. Blanking time might be a bit short and sync position could be causing the shift prob.

I'm not sure what to make of all this. I have displayed 1080P 60 and 1080P 48 on three different X600 projectors with border and overscan patterns and the whole test pattern was there. It did however require close to 100% right shift to do it.

You may have to turn the PJ a little to the right and shift the other sources to the left. Not the optimum solution but it might work.

Well, it looks as though I'll be setting up this freakish 3600HD in the shop for a round of 1080P screen shots. Now that I've got a handle on taking pictures of screen shots, this should be fun. jtnfoley aka Heywood Jablome is the only one besides me to see this 3600HD do 1080P.

Maybe a dumb question, but is your blanking adjusting to maximum width to avoid cutting off the edges?

Come Igore. Off to the laboratory to get your bolts tightened. Then help me lift this projector onto the table so we can show the world what really is AmPro Laughing

I have Heywood's HD DVD player here along with his Moome ISS card. I am seeing the same cut off problem. It's not there when I do 1080P with a test pattern generator.

Check the blanking time for 1080p. The specification calls for horizontal blanking time less than the retrace time of the projector. It shouldn't be much, though. There should only be a little cut-off the edges. Isn't there a code for fast retrace? Sould be in that mode. Video generator might not have the correct parameters.

This, my friends, is why I run an HTPC. Control. Why a bunch of guys who tweak the bejesus out of their display devices are bent on handing control of the displayed image to expensive, unchangeable black boxes is totally beyond me.

Perisoft,

I run a HTPC for the same reason you do but I also see the other side of it. With a standalone player you put the disc in and turn on the projector to watch a movie, much simpler and more family friendly.
