Keep saying 'dog' as it's the right thing to do - but just be warned that you're going to have do a lot explaining when they ask "don't you mean 'cat'". Smile

You're right. I give up. Smile

Reminds me of Barry's DE-9 vs. DB-9 thread. I wonder if his forhead healed from banging his head against the wall on that one?

Hi Phil,

What issues are you having with the HD-SDI output into the VP50 pro?

Jeremy[/quote]

Hello Jeremy,

Oh where should I begin. After talking to Anchor Bay about the situation with my Sony Blu-Ray DVD player I was recommended to JVB Digital. If you aren't familiar with JVB Digital, they do SDI and code free modifications to dvd players. I sent off my dvd player to JVB and ordered the dual HD-SDI card for my VP 50 pro. I installed everything and NOTHING!?! I tried some obvious troubleshooting and still nothing. I talked to Anchor Bay and to JVB. First JVB acknowledged that they just found out about a problem with the VP 50 Pro and that their mods work with several other processors on the market. I conveyed that to Anchor Bay who then sent back and called with information that the JVB mods weren't up to industry standards. I went back to JVB who was very upset with how Anchor Bay was handling this matter and said that their data was out of date. So now I am in limbo awaiting someone to fix the problem and out about $1,300.oo to boot. I'll keep you posted as to the outcome, but for the time being, I would wait on having my DVD player modded, at least if you are using a DVDO processor.

I'm a HTPC guy, I have been considering the stand alone's primaraly for the WAF/GFAF factor. I can make her understand push this button this button and put the movie here. Then press play.

I can't however make her figure out, boot PC, inset movie into drive. No other drive. What? No. Grab the OTHER keyboard, the one I always use with no wires. Ok clik here. Ohh sounds like the software crashed. Reboot the PC. Yes do the windows shut down. Oh it's just sitting there? Hit the reset switch. That's the smaller one. Yes the silver button on the front of the PC. Ok did it boot? Great. The movies playing? Excellent. See that was ea...oh there's no sound? Ok have you turned the amp on? Ahhh just use the head phones will ya? No, not the pink jack the green one. Yes on the front of the PC. Ok bye...

Sorry tangent . I'm sure most of the HTPC guys have gotten a call like this. lol

Having stand alone's with 3 switches would be easlier and maybe one day I'd actually get around to progamming a remote with macro's to make it a one touch start up.

Just so you know, you want a device that is NOT HDCP compliant. An HDCP compliant device will not produce an analog signal from an HDCP encrypted digital signal. All scalers are HDCP compliant--that's the problem. Smile

This is absolutely correct, as everyone agrees.

What would be a correct term we could use for a device that takes in a digital HDCP signal and outputs an analog/component signal?

"HDCP Defeating Device"?

BTW - Good to see you back Dave! Very Happy

I'm just impressed that you have both a wife and a girlfriend. Do you let them watch movies together? Smile
