I have a problem in that IRIS made a crap picture which shut down seconds later on HT hold down (according to the LEDs on the front). Any one know how to get the 708 to come out of it so we can reset it?

Those should be two unrelated problems. Does the set work without using the IRIS? The IRIS shouldn't cause HD hold down.

The IRIS just created a setup that caused the problem it isn't the reason its staying that way. The set comes on and the line LEDs are green but the hold down LED is amber.

The hold down light shouldn't be amber, it is red. THe amber light simply means that a memory location in the projector is being used by the current input signal. that's normal, and isn't a fault indicator. Are any red lights lit up in that row of lights?

LOL. I wasn't being sarcastic, I wanted to know what the term meant.
High voltage shutdown?

The hold down HD is a shutdown of the HTHD supply. This can be caused by the deflection board or by a bad focus board.
(a click on the above link would have given it to you.. )

Sorry the HD LED was red but that is not on. I have all green now apart from the far right which is amber. Can see that the rear of the tubes some energy as there is a glow (is this the heaters?) but now colour at the front. Not sure this makes it clear at all

Well Checked the information
All the left LEDs are green, no red LEDs and the far right (COINC) is amber. I have been trying to find the + conv fuse to see if thats blown but can't seem to locate it. You can see that the heaters are on on the tubes.
PS - Fujifrontier: HD means Hold Down of the HT supply.

If all lights are green, then the + conv fuse is fine.
If you still do not have a picture, then I would suspect a problem on the video input board. Those have all sorts of possible faults on them that can cause a no picture condition even though there are no fault LEDs lit on teh front of the set.

The latest so far is that on the deflection board there is a red LED that flickers when I select "1" and again when i put the unit back in to stand by.
I also noticed on the video input board that non of the green lights come on at all in response to selecting "1".

Sorry, its not the deflection board its the H & V board. There is also a smaller LED lower down that flickers to.

Found that if you are patient (not my forte) then the input board lights do active the the appropriate input. Still doesnt give a picture though. Did notice that all the G2 LEDs are on but I guess thats due to a lack of HV.

I'm guessing that it's the video input board. At this point you need to pull the board and send it in, I can't troubleshoot it further than that without seeing it.
