DVI only supports RGB at either 0-255 or 16-235. You can not make a DVI source (in almost every case) output YCbCr. Furthermore, any DVI source that supports YCbCr is outside of industry specifications. Only HDMI supports YCbCr.
To utilize YCbCr 444 or 422 you will need a source or video processor that can output YCbCr through HDMI. Many BluRay players support this as well as the Lumagen Radiance video processors.
craigr |
Ad the Tv-ones to the list also, i can choose what YUV (analog or digital) it will input and output over DVI
Athanasios |
You can select YCbCr on the output on the TV-One? I did not know that.
The Lumagen Vision allows selection on the input only for RGB or YCbCr 444/422 (output is fixed at RGB).
The Lumagen Radiance is native HDMI, so it auto selects. However, one can also specify on the Radiance the luma level and color space on all inputs and outputs.
craigr |
The Tv-one also have auto select, but you can choose what input you want in the case the source defaults to one but you want it to output another, i think it forces the source to put out what the Tv-one will accept via the EDID codes. they also added an EDID editor where you can grab the edid signal from the source and choose which to use if there is a selectability(should be a word ) issue from the source to the C2-2xxx. i really have not tried it or understand the way it works but an explanation on the support section of the site. You can not select the output, it outputs what comes in. so if you select YUV-D in it will output YUV-D out, input YUV-A output YUV-A. I dont think it can convert the A to D or D to A. It might be something they could possibly add if was really needed. As a stand alone scaler i really like them, once they fix a blend zone issue and add the 256 pint gamma then I'll love it , even with out a remote or onscreen menu.

John just informed me about this discussion. I too have an early V2 card and would like to know how we go about getting these issues addressed.
Whilst Moome has been great getting these products to us enthusiasts this sort of thing is always disappointing to hear, especially as it has happened with so many iterations of the IFB. The V2 card was advertised as a collaborative effort with many well regarded names in the modification field and all with superb EE credentials. We're now being told of problems and that the cards don't perform as advertised, or as designed.
I hope Moome will let us know what V2 owners should do to remedy the situation. Ideally it would be best to deal with someone in the US.

Since the fix is a simple one for me to do, I'd be willing to do a few here in the states (no charge), but that's only if the card gets here with a pre-paid return shipping label.
Shoot me an email or Pm first to arrange for when it will arrive. I'd like to get it right back out the same day.

Excellent solution Mike. I will ship the card out tomorrow USPS Priority Mail so you should see it Monday. Just need to figure out how to prepay return shipping. Can I just Paypal you the funds.
Thanks again.

Not that I'm trying to step into anyone's business, but ..........
As Mike is offering a big favor for several of us please help him reduce the logistical and clerical effort by including with your card a prepaid shipping label for him:
FedEx - you can complete the multipart form at the FedEx / Kinko's store and include it in the package. "Ship Date" is not critical; it can be estimated or left blank. Same with online form. Use your address for both "Return" and "Ship To" addresses. Payment can be "Bill To Sender" / "Bill To Recipient" as appropriate (meaning you, the original sender/owner of card) and/or taken care of at the store.
UPS - in a similar fashion you can complete the respective paperwork. Use UPS stores, Mail Boxes etc., UPS shipping facilities.
USPS - purchase the necessary prepaid postage tape, stamps, online postage, etc. and add to it a pre-addressed shipping label.
The return shipping process is cumbersome and time-consuming. Paying the amount via PayPal/Check/Cash etc. is a financial help, but doesn't offset the time, effort, and aggravation of individual labels, trips to various stores, etc.
So let's help Mike out.
And then if you want to throw a bit extra his way via PayPal, you can certainly do that, too.
There you go, Mike. And because it's you I'll drop my standard 40% off the top down to a mere 25%.
(that last bit was a - jk - people)

At the moment the IFB FULLHD V2, give me promising results.
But the convergences of my G90, are wrong about 10cm to the left of the screen.
Can you indicate to me if the problem have an issue.
In right side they seem perfect.
I very tested, bow, key, pin, skew, size and zone, no issue.
Yet the green grid pattern are perfect.

This isn't an issue with Moome's IFB so it should be asked in the general forum and not in this thread

I shall make it craigr but,
I hope this is true ...
Because for the IFB John, I did not have this problem.
This was just the last red vertical band from right to left,
which were slightly shifted inside.
Just like to know if anyone has encountered this problem.
Let me know.
Thank you
Yves

I have received my upgraded/reworked/improved card from Mike.
In a word - fantastic.
I don't really have the vocabulary or breadth of equipment knowledge to properly express what I am seeing. But the card puts me in the studio with CNN, FOX, MSNBC. It puts me on the field with the Cowboys. It puts me next to the telecine operators on "Ironman" and "The Fifth Element" and "The Dark Knight" and "Casino Royal."
I can not only see the layers and outlines and overly-smooth makeup on broadcasters' faces, I can see flakes of it trying to break away.
Hair is wispy and delicate and multicolored as it drifts away from faces.
It's like a few breakthroughs I have experienced in decades of audio - a real game changer.
Thanks Mike.
I'll email when I get more time.

I have to say I've heard that from a few people over the years with Mr. Parker. I've said it myself back in the days of Mikes modded video cards and Transcoder. He does that kind of work exclusively and consistently.

Does this issue affect all resolutions? or just 1080P? (is 1080i affected to the same degree?)
Thanks!

All resolutions should be effected, how much I can't say.
I'm sending out several units tomorrow, maybe someone will verify this for you once they get their unit back.

I tested the original card at 1080i and found that there is even some attenuation there. Not as much with 1080i because it only requires half the BW of 1080p 60 to start. But I could easily measure on an oscope the attenuation and also see it with test patterns on the screen.
