Thanks for the quick response. I see that the resolution is to purchase a transcoder to boost the red and blue. The technician I had over suggested/suspected a weak signal issue. He said he could attach something to the blue and red wires to "boost" the signal. Would this method work just as well?

You could have the best of both worlds with the RTC2200. It will take a VGA signal in on pass though and apply gama adjustment to it.
So you could keep your dvdo iscan+ for your regular upscaling and use the RTC2200 for the component transcoding .

ok, sounds like a plan! Big thanks. I have one more question. The manual really doesn't get into it, but do I need to use the H/V Sync and V Sync inputs as well or will the RGB wire suffice? What are these two inputs? I'm just hooking up a DVD player that has RGB only.

Did you catch this post I did previously?
Cheak out the info in those links, they will tell you the difference between Compnonet ( over the 3 RGB cables ) and RGBHV.
To answer your question yes you will need the H=V cables too.

I bought a Crescendo RTC2000 transcoder, and hooked it up between my DVD player and Pro895X. I got my colors back. No more green screen! However, I now can only choose from 4X3 or letterbox aspect ratios. I have a compressed screen option on the single video wire setup. I can't do that one in the RGP setting. That's not so bad. My big problem is that the image is noticeably darker in the RGB mode. I do not have this problem in my alternate mode which is just a single video cable setup. It's a very bright image in that mode. Something in that RGB mode is causing the darkness. The brightness and contrast settings don't help in correcting this loss of brightness when I'm in RGB mode. Any suggestions or do I have to live with it?
