Can you send that password to me as well, I had it but seem to have lost it. When I upgraded to V8.0 firmware it also reset the model # so now it is listed as a Marquee 8000 in the info screen. That can be reset in the super secret menus.
Thanks
Chris.

Yes, that's correct. In version 2.0 firmware you can narrow down the vertical grid lines to a single pixel if you want to.
I spent time playing with the secret menus on a test chassis. One that wouldn't cause me to cry if I hosed it.
The big danger in there is getting the sync all screwed up in one of the menus. Do that and you won't be able to SEE your setting to readjust it. It's not such a problem if you don't panic. Stay in that menu and adjust the value until the picture comes back, and don't hit the EXIT button, whatever you do!
Even just looking and not touching does have its risks. Somehow I managed to reset the hours counter while in those
menus but it wasn't a listed option and I don't know how I did it.
The hour counter is actually in a small 8-pin DIP IC located on the backplane board, and NOT on the CLM.

Does anyone know what any of the setting in the secret menu actually do? I do have a test chassis that I have played around with some of the settings but they don't seem to actually do much. Why would any of these setting ever need to be changed?
Chris.

They're used in the initial factory setup of a Marquee.
It's been so long since I was in those menus that I can't remember the name of some of the options,
but I do remember that there's a phasing selection, with four zones to select, which determines WHERE
on the screen certain adjustments like focus actually are centered on.
For example, if you were to set this setting incorrectly and went to adjust the focus on the left side of
the screen, you might find that the focus changes most not on the left side, but somewhere more toward
the middle or even on the right side of the screen.
There are also master alignments for the location of the convergence grids. I remember that quite
distinctly. When you grab a zone in convergence and pull it vertically or horizontally, the center of the
zone should be centered directly on the intersection of the grid. If the part that moves most is not
on the grid intersections, there's adequate reason to go into the secret adjustments and correct it.
This is a diagram I just drew up to illustrate the problem. In the upper section you'll see a grid
with convergence adjusted hard left, hard up, and hard up/right. The convergence master controls
are properly aligned as the peak of the adjustment coincides with the crossing of the grid lines.
In the lower section, there are examples of the same adjustment with the master adjustments
being out of proper alignment. Note that the center of the adjustment is not matched up with
the location of the grid line intersection. You can check this out on your own PJ, and if it
doesn't look like the upper examples when you try to make this adjustment, then you have
some reason to go in and fix it.
But typically you'd never have any reason to touch any of these adjustments at all.
BUT...I was able to improve the accuracy of my 9500LC's focusing system by adjusting the zone
focus settings. They are now centered where they should be. How it got out of adjustment, I
can't really know. But I THINK it's because the CLM was changed out. That CLM is not talking
to the same HDM, VDM, focus, or convergence boards that it was originally set up with.
So there it is: If the CLM or any other board in the Marquee that communicates with the CLM
via the I2S bus is changed out, then there MAY be a need for you to go into the secret menus
in order to fully realign the projector. You would determine this by being very analytical
about how the various functions are operating. Is the convergence working where it should
on the screen? Zone focus, too? Is it operating properly at all test mode scan rates?
(I'm pretty sure there's an alignment in there that affects this, too, and it controls something
in the HDM...don't ask me for details because I'm not well educated about it.)

Excellent info, I had wondered if there may be problems when swapping out boards between various projector. I think it's time to fire up my test chassis and play around a bit
Chris.
