Hey,
I need some tips (help). I am thinking of buying a g70, but the owner does not know much about it. My questions:

How do I tell by looking into the lenses what condition the tube and C element are in?

What is the quickest way to get to the menu to show how many hours are on the unit?

Aside from other obvious physical damage, what else should I look for? I probably won't have the opportunity to do a lot of checking it out before purchasing.

I know this is pretty much a WFO (wide effing open) question, but any help is appreciated.

Pull the lenses, you may not see the wear through the lenses even with a flashlight.

You will need a long phillips screwdriver to remove the lenses

To check hours you must be in the "serviceman control mode"

Press (enter)(enter)(up)(down)(enter) to enter serviceman mode

Hours will be listed under SET INFO

Do not trust the hours as they may have been reset or reset themselves

Good Luck,

Erik

That's what I thought. I am pretty good with removing lenses from a 1272. Any chance the lenses on a g70 are as easy or hard (to get to the blue lense botton screws, I need to slide the power supply out a bit).

Thanks. I'll need all the quick ways I can get.

Big dog, the lenses on the G70 are MUCH easier to take off versus the 1272. Just remove the front cover from the projector. Loosen the two bolts on the top door, open it, loosen the two bolts inside the top door, remove cover, and on the sides there are two latches that remove the front cover.

Depending on price, as long as it works, even toasty, will throw a picture that will SMOKE the 1272 even if it had MINTY tubes. :^)

Oh,

Make sure you understand how to remove the covers AKA read Curts G70 guide, you don't want to be like me standing there looking at it for three hours trying to figure out how to get the covers off.
