Guys,

My projector has been setup for 1080p/60Hz using HD-DVD test patterns.

I got a PS3 to play BluRays. I also have it set to 1080p/60Hz, but it looks like the convergence is slightly off.

Is there such a thing as a BluRay test pattern disc? Or should I just push over the Nokia test patterns onto the PS3 via its network connection?

Hi Steve....If the PS3 BR is anything like the Xbox 360 HD then something is bound to require the creation of new memory setups. With the 360, it's the porches.

You didn't say but did you copy your existing 1080p/60 to another memory location and tweek it for the PS3/BR once you noticed the abberation?
With the 360 on my 8500 I had to create multiple memory locations; one for the onboard DVD @ 720p/60, one for just the 360 (for gaming) @720p/60, and another for the HDDVD drive@ 720p/60.
Somewhere along the line of copying memories I got a nasty case of banding (that shouldn't happen when copying) that took a while to un-do but it's all good now. I'd love to have a scaler to try out 1080p/72 but alas, my CS2 won't do 'er but games still rock. (Just finished GOW last night)

Many Blu-Ray disks have a series of test patterns in them. If you enter 7669 (SONY with telephone style numbers) at the main menu it will come up and have a series of patterns, one of which is a grid to check convergence.

An alternative is to make your own patterns and save them on a memory card and then use the picture viewer on the PS3 to display them. As long as the blu-ray resolution you're using is the same as the dashboard the video frequency should be the same.

Greg, no, I didn't create a dup memory entry and then tweak it for the PS3. That sounds like the short path to getting this issue solved.

Kris I'm using the gaming control to navigate the menu on the PS3 when playing BluRays - forgive me for being thick, but how do I enter 7669 with this device?

When the disk is at the menu (or really whenever its playing) press the Triangle button on the controller to bring up the interface.
There are the standard icons for skip, play, pause, stop, releat, etc as well as icons for the audio, display settings, menu access and that stuff. Above those two rows of icons are numbers 1..9. If you use the d-pad to go up and enter 7669 you should see the numbers appear on the screen as you input them. Once all four are up, just let it sit for a moment and if the disk you are using has the patterns they will start. First is usually color bars, then a resolution/focus, then a grey sweep, then finally a grid.

At first it seemed like all blu-ray disks had the patterns, but apparently some do not. So far all the ones I've seem from Sony do - like Casino Royale.
