|
|
I have an NEC XG135 hooked up to a BD. The projector locks onto the 1080i signal fine, but when I switch to 1080p output from the BD players, I see the picture but it is angled? I would have to post some pics, but my question is can the XG135 resolve 1080P? If so, what are the steps I should perform on the projector?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it can, but you need to do a complete new setup on the unit. Focus and astig setup becomes critical at the higher resolutions, so do a careful job, but it will resolve 1080p.

Curt:
Can you please lead me to instructions on the set up? Simple instrucitons?

There's an NEC XG setup post here on the forum somewhere that I put up with a bunch of articles. Simple? No! Worth it? YES!

While you are at it Curt, can you write some simple instructions to build a space rocket? Really simple ones, with pictures - but it has to work, a REAL space rocket.

Which would be harder, building the rocket or resolving 1080p on our XG's

I tried the same, did a complete focus/convergence setup and had a problem with the left side of the image at 1080P. It looks like a reflection about 1/4 of the way in from the left edge. I gave up and went back to 720P. Frustrating.

Tom,
An XG does not like standard 1080p timings, about the only way I know of to get rid of the fold-over is to use a scaler or HTPC that allows custom sync timings.

Same issue with my G70, though I've made it work acceptably. Lots of projectors don't like standard 1080p timings and will wrap or ring on the left side of the image. As Mike says, a scaler or HTPC with custom timings will work...
But, has anybody tried one of the Box devices with Image Alignment Correction? That should do the trick, too - if it works properly.

I don't think the Image Alignment Correction of the 1040 box can solve the image fold over issue when feeding 1080p signal to the NEC projector. Its not the same problem.

I'll bet the MFG has no idea if this will work with the XG. The only way we will know is if someone tries.
Anyone got a 1021 and XG?

I have a 1021, it does not have Image Alignment Correction (IAC) circuitry it's LLB only (Gamma Boost). The one that MIGHT and I stress might fix it is the 1040, it has IAC.

Without actually seeing what your describing I can only assume it is similar to what I have seen while working on system boards at higher resolutions. It looks like a reflection on the left of the screen from top to bottom and maybe about 1/8 or 1/16 of the screen. I found this to actually be a reflection and was able to correct it with blanking. Blanking has to be reset for all resolutions and this side is very particular, more so then top, bottom and right. For me as I increased left blanking the reflection would disappear before the actual picture was being blanked. This was verified on many different system boards. Give it a try. If not then it's different then what I seeing.

Then it's the 1020 that had IAC. Ooops.
