|
|
Some of you may remember that I was in the process of converting my 8500 to 9500LC. It took a lot longer than I thought it would due to various delays, but last night I finished the mounting plates, put in the tubes, and finally got it up and running. The color reproduction with R+G filtered C-elements is FANTASTIC! Much, much better than before. Tight focus is still a work in progress but I did a quick setup in order to play Halo 3 I'm surprised that nobody has said anything about it...I was up until 3am last night playing. Awesome so far!!
Also...many thanks to Chris Nuttall! Your pictures and descriptions of the upper and lower AC->LC mounting plate modifications made it possible for me!

I'm glad the upgrade went well. Modifying the AC plates was a necessity as the LC plate are almost non existent in the used market.
I'm picking up Halo 3 on my way home from work....I think I feel a sick day coming on for tomorrow
Chris.

Gee, you could have completed this a lot faster if you went with a Hi-Rez conversion . I think it was only something like $6,000 the last time I looked - cheap.

I have also made two set of those LC plates. I took hole dimensions from original plates, but leaved those countersinkings out and used little thinner plate (5mm) I found from workshop.
I had sketch of those, but have lost it...

Honestly, the countersinking was the easiest part of the whole conversion! All I did was take a sufficiently large drill bit and go at it until the tapered screws I bought were flush with the plate. No measuring, or anything

Never saw those plates in place, but I was told that those embeddings aren't needed so I leaved those out.
