Yep! Smile

I actually spent quite a bit of time going through lists of supposed "bad words" to make up the word filter list we use here. It's quite extensive. Cliffy helped come up with a bunch of the words as well. I'm actually still quite suprised how well it works a year or so after I implemented it. It's still catching 95%+ of anything that search engines would fine offensive (the major reason for doing it - I didn't want the site to get blacklisted by Google or others and not come up when people do searches that may lead here).

I sure hope I don't step on it with my next few sentences but...

The public forum is totally part of Curt's business. As a seriously added bonus we all get to glean much in the ways of CRT knowledge. Curt seems like a friend of sorts, albeit only through the net. I am pretty sure most of us can say at least that if not more about him. He is always quick to help out with spare test boards, parts, repair, whatever. I am pretty sure the small pittance we cough up to be members just puts a dent in the associated costs of this site and his time. That being said, back to the friend part...

How lousy is it for us to carry on the way things have been carrying on for the last few days, essentially at our friends place of business. It's pretty embarrassing y'all.

I agree with rabies_70. I'm just getting into this hobby, and without Curt's site - and a half hour telephone conversation he had no responsibility to take part in Smile I don't think I could do it. I signed up for the club membership because it's the least I can do for the massive amount of work he's put in, not just for his customers, but for anyone who comes along. The information he puts up makes it easier for guys like me to do stuff without hiring him - and that's good for me, because right now I can't! But when I can, he's going to be first on the list.

Curt deserves our respect at *least*, and if members want to get into private ... peeing contests, the least anyone can do is not have a fistfight on his lawn.

I gotta agree. I think the pitchers o' nekkid wimmin is stretching it far enough. Just being crude and rude for the fun of it, well, that doesn't seem like the way to treat a friend's place. Or the rest of your friends, virtual or not.

By the way, I kinda went a little nutty with the cursing earlier myself, and I'd like to apologize to Curt if that's over the line. I figured since they get 'bleeped' it's not much worse than when Samuel L. Jackson is a guest on Jay Leno or something. But anyway, yeah... I think it makes sense for us to not do anything here we wouldn't do if we were all hanging out in Curt's HT. So, no screaming obscenities, no stripping naked, and no fist fights.

Tripping over random projectors, though, is obviously fine. Wink

What's funny is how people are sensitive to different words. One of the most offensive sayings to me (and don't ask me why!) is 'piss off'. To me, that's more offensive than saying the female 'C' word which has got to rank up there as probably one of the most offensive.

I usually stick with humorous ones, like '*******' that doesn't seem to offend no matter who you say it to.

I can't tell whether that's supposed to be "need LED-ink bug f*cker", "needle dink bug f*cker" or "needled ink-bug f*cker". Hmm.

Sorry Curt if the post I made earlier in this thread is offensive, delete it if you want to, not that I could or would want to stop you, it is your place to do as you wish.
