Well that didn't work so well. Ramada head office has no franchise overseeing managers according to customer service. They apparently don't give a crap how each hotel does business. The friendly customer service reps says that I need to take this up with the hotel. This doesn't seem right to me, but hey, we all know not to stay at a Ramada now, right?

When did we ever want to stay at a Ramada...? Wink

Last time i even thought about a ramada, i was on the road w/ the wife somewhere in nc.... we were dead tired and i pulled in to check it out... there was a local pimp who had girls "dating" from the parking lot. Needless to say, we drove on.

Sorry to hear about the ripoff curt, id take him to court.

If you had no agreement to take return of the projector, did not verify the problem the buyer has purported, did not verify the condition of the projector "on return" ...I would say you have no obligation to be responsible for his abandoned property- if you do I would charge him monthly storage pending small claims. If the buyer has been this bent so far,how do you know he has not "adjusted" the PJ ?
I guess you need to decide how to proceed, the smart choice would be to file the lien or find out who hold the mortgage and inform them of your intention to file a lien.
My choice would be to wait for the next big pay per view night and have the local mounties meet you at the bar while you exercise your right to recover unpaid merchandise that "remains your property" and tell the weasel to meet you in court if he wants to recover any payment he has made. (it would make the judges day!!)
you can bill him for the cost of you recovering your gear Thumbs Up

Well I sent an email to Ramada head office, and lo and behold I got a return email asking for the hotel's address so the email could be forwarded to the appropriate person. At least that's better than getting blown off completely.

I am waiting for a return call from my lawyer to see if I could be charged if I repo the gear. I think as long as I don't take EVERYTHING out of the pub, and only take the equivalent equipment of what I'm owed plus travel time expenses I'll be fine. If that's the case, I'll find a day to blast over there with a friend to go in and out of the pub in under 15 minutes to grab what's mine.

Small claims is about 6-7 months wait time, and the thought of this ahole using my screen and other stuff while I'm sitting here waiting to get justice just frosts me. I don't really need a slightly used screen, preamp or speakers back, but what the hell, I'll find another place to install them in at a discount.

I will check out the 8500 today to see if they maxed out the brightness and contrast to 100....Sad

The issue isn't about repairing the set, Walter emailed me within a few days of getting the unit that it wasn't working for him. The issue is that I have no parts for this unit (I told him that up front) so I can't do board swaps. The set has to come back here to be so I can go through it. He hasn't brought it back to me (Pentiction is 5 hours East of Vancouver), and for whatever reason wants me to cover shipping both ways. I can't do that.

As soon as he brings or ships it to me, I'll look at it right away. If it's not repairable, I'll credit the purchase price less shipping towards another set.

Oh, and BIG updates on the original reason for posting this. Keep tuned on MOnday late PM...

quick update since curt wrote the above his assertion that he told me that he can,r do board swaps and didn,t have any parts is nonsense look at the add in his items for sale he mentions neither and i offered to split the shipping costs with him for a set that did not work right from the get go, his response is curt refused to take possesion of the set and it is sitting at the loading dock and he wants to ship it back to me in its present condition and me eating the shipping costs(both ways) for a set that is still not up to snuff, which i will not do so basically he screwed my out of the cost for the set that he won,t look at and back up his product and i have neither a pj or the cash. so fellas keep that in mind next time any of you decide to buy anything from this vender, typical salesman sell the product pocket the cash then forget about "servicing" his broken junk.......never again........ Yes, Walter sent the set down collect.

IF the set is defective and it's not shipping damage and IF it wasn't messed with and indeed it was some part failure, then I most likely wouldn't have a problem covering the return shipping costs, or I'd split them. But if you read further back on this thread I believe I was clear in saying I wasn't covering shipping to me, and Walter said he'd send the set down. Yep, he sent it down...collect.

Walter, I talked to the trucking company yesterday and explained the situation to them. I am giving them your email address and they will give you 72 hours to pay for the unit, or they will consider it as abandoned. You actually emailed me yesterday that you were abandoning the unit anyways.

I've also told you many times that I'd look at the unit at no charge, but it needs to come here prepaid. You chose to do things your way, which is now why the unit is sitting on the trucking dock. I'd cut and paste some of your emails from the last 48 hours, but it might offend people here.

Curt I gotta say here, you are going above and beyond.
I say cut this guy loose.
It was very clear that he was supposed to pay the shipping to you.
Couple that with the damage he is tying to do to your name, man on man.

You are a better man then I, Gunga Din.

Curt, clean your hands of this guy, and any further problems he may give you. You are well known as an honest guy, and there is not much he can do to ruin your name anyhow.. In fact he sounds a lot like the guy that bought my 1251.......

lol, yeah, he's a funny f-cker, who can sell and ship pj's half a round the planet earth, said pj's ending up under a table or hanging from the ceiling shooting a nice picture on the screen for years and years. And said seller then doesn't charge extra for giving support for years and years. And if the world comes tumbling down, and there is a hardware problem, said seller actually finds time to help you fix it, no matter how long you've had the pj.

Yep, that's one Bad Salesman to the rest of us. Wink

Walter you are- WAY -out of line
it seems sanctimonious to accuse Curt of deliberately stiffing YOU, and then hang the shipping company with a c.o.d. bill( that you knew damn well that Curt would not pay) Did you even try to release the adjustment lock as per the service manual? I am guessing not, sounds like your mind has been made up on this for a long time and you just wanted to rant.

Well.....my projector is in my theater, not a dock. My projector works fine, and items I purchased from Curt arrived in perfect working condition, and continues to do so. I am having a nice day, but it appears that it only sucks to be you.

Again all I can say is why did you decide to buy that PJ AGAINST Curt's advice in the first place??? He has many much better sets for not much more money... You could have had a Barco 1100 for just above that price and had one heck of better projector compared to that Panny.. or even grabbed up one of his Sony 12xx models which would have ran forever.

Common sense.. I guess it is rare these days...
