Good memories & I have seen one of these machines at Cedia in Minneapolis.
I was a guest of Chris Stephens & had the President of VDC sitting next to me for the demo.

Having said all that, I am fairly certain that todays mods handily eclipse what I saw back in 2003. Think I have the year right.

I don't believe however, that we have yet to equal the processing power of the $60,000K Teranex units they demoed these CRT's with.

Yup, he canceled the auction a day before it was due to close. Sad
That was an "Accurate Imaging" 9" machine, based on a VDC (not e-home or christie digital) Ultra 9500LC and built in 2002 or 2003. It supposedly had about $1000 worth of high end capacitors added to it by Chris Stephens and a bunch of other stuff, including an HD-SDI "digital" Rolling Eyes input card. This is the one that Jaehong Lee talks about in his 9500LC mod thread. I spent two hours on the Internet last night researching the body shell on this thing to find out what it was and when I discovered it was an Accurate Imaging machine and what exactly that was... I was psyched! I wanted it! Razz
But it's gone now. Mad
well a little update on that seller. I wound up winning the ceiling mount bracket for that machine on 9/13. Paid about $50. including freight. Well 12 days goes by and no braket. So I call the guy Sam and get the old " I was out of town" bit but promises he'll ship tomorrow. Well today I get a pay-pal refund with the explanantion of "sorry" the seller backed out" HUH? Confused how do you back out of a closed auction you got paid for 12 days ago? I would avoid the seller and whoever he is representing, they're a bunch of cheese-balls.
I hope Oliver is doing better with his second G90 out of NY? BTW Oliver, did you ever get any news back from the FBI on the first G90 you got scammed on. I hope at least your Credit Card company got your money back from Pay-pal?

Sounds like the seller is a douchebag who will renege on his auctions if he doesn't get what he wants. I'm guessing he's too stupid to know what a reserve price is. Thumbs Down

Hey Dragan - I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Firstly, you can make a complain to IC3 (part of the FBI) that accept such requests.

My cousin explained to me that a sale on eBay is a contract - people can't just back out.

In Australia: http://www.smh.com.au/news/web/ebay-sale-is-a-sale-court-rules/2007/08/03/1185648121130.html

I contacted a lawyer in NY who confirmed the situation is the same in the USA. Even if the seller refunds you, you already own the goods.

You also might want to report this to eBay. They may cancel his account as what he's done is against the terms and conditions.

My seller (of the first G90) has promised the machine will leave on Friday. He apparently has had issues building the crate for it. Up until yesterday, he had been promising "tomorrow" for 14 days. I was fed up at the time. I traced his emails and worked out where he lived and who he worked for. He has done this before, he apparently shuts down when he's under the pump and his eBay rating is 75%
(I didn't know this until I was fed the information by my cousin) I was going to contact all the disgruntled buyers and give them his full contact details. Then I had a PDF of the entire criminal proceedings that IC3 had put together and I was going to email that to his boss, to Yahoo (they cancel scammers accounts) and PayPal. The funny thing is, when I talked to him on the phone, he really did seem like he was a nice guy and I almost felt bad.

One tactic I used was to CC him in on all the correspondence with the authorities, That way, he knew I wasn't bliffing.

I'm glad that he finally surfaced and explained his behaviour. I was seriously thinking of paying Curt some money to "take care of it for me". Curt is so mean when he puts on the body armour he's made out of old projector parts.

The second G90 and the Vidikron Vision 1 are being delivered to my door tomorrow morning. I'm pretty excited.

Dragan, I hope things work out for you. Did you get a chance to leave feedback? Let me know if there's anything I can do to help

Kind regards

IMO to get a 9500 really looking good requires the following:

* Start with an Ultra Chassis for the added geometry controls
* P19LUG tubes for the smaller apature guns
* Red CElement
* Late model HD10F lens's off a G90 or HFQ900's
* KD 22-22 focus yokes to take advantage of the P19LUG's higher resolution capabilities
* Mike Parker's latest mods

thanks but i'm not going to persue it further, it's not worth it for 50 bucks. I just wanted to warn others about dealing with this flaky guy. I think it's funny how your first seller suddenly decided to come out of the wood-work once he knew the FBI had a case open on him, what a dick-wad.

On the other Vision one thread it is indicated that Vision Ones have a filtered red C lense. Can anyone confirm this? I have a late model Vision and would like to know how I can tell?

advette - try not to "hijack" threads - start your own thread - i'm not saying this in a "mean" way, but you appear new so you might not be aware of forum etiquette

look down the red tube with a torch, if their is a corrected c-element they will reflect back at you

good luck

Oliver, you have two Ultra threads ongoing on the front page. Can't you spare one of them to a thread hi-jacker? Smile

You can tell by looking through the lens while the unit is powered off. If you see white or tan, then you don't have a red C-Element. If you see red while the unit is powered off, then you have a red c-element. Smile

I still believe in the red c-element, but then I have never had a color calibrated machine. So maybe a good calibrator can bring my non modded red tube to a true and real red. I can't. But maybe someone else can.
But for $150 + $50 + $50, I can have VDC put a red c-element on the tube for me, including shipping.

It's on my "to-do" list. Confused

I did it once before, on my old Marquee 9000. And I loved the difference. I've just been too lazy to have it done again, especially since my red is worn out and awaiting a replacement. It's rated a "7", but that is too far gone for a red tube IMO.

I just look the other way and compensate with whatever adjustments the Marquee offers, until I decide on whether to go with Lugs or LCP's for my replacements. The blue & green were new OEM when I put them in about 2K hours ago. Blue is still 9+, while green is now an ~8.
